2013 370z?
First of all, I hope this is not a repost of comeone's thread (I can't find any with a quick search)...
Just found an R&T article about the potential new Z 2013 Nissan Z Photos and Official Info? Future Cars ? RoadandTrack.com I also like the sleeker look. 360hp, 450 ft-lb with 30mpg? That is nice! What do you guys think of the possibility of this making into production? |

Its a chopped G and Ashton. Lol, but honestly I don't believe that would be in production. The specs maybe. The mpg, don't think so. In my honest opinion; it wouldn't feel like a traditional Z. Nissan is in fact aware of the potential it has, but like before I don't believe it'll be.

I will reply very carefully as my post yesterday was not carefully worded.
No more fangs! No more big door handles! Different headlights! (not a huge fan, but I am sure production model will be toned down) M Hybrid with 360hp with 30 mpg I would even bet they got rid of the LED gas gauge. (no interior pics) If this is a 2013 then it would be for sale next year! SIGN ME UP! |

I certainly agree. Many members, I believe, are true car fanatics. A hybrid as a sports car wouldn't make as much sales as Nissan intends to.

A diesel has massive torque as does an electric drive to assist as gas engine. |

The hybrid would completely ruin the handling because it would add so much weight. So that's out. As for the diesel, there is just something about it that I don't like. Im not saying everyone has to agree with me but thats my opinion. I don't really wanna drive around a Z puffing black smoke out the back lol If they came out with either of these, I would simply by a different car like a mustang or something.

Puffing black smoke diesel - LOL. Yeah, that's not quite how they work anymore. Check out the BMW 335d. How about the Audi R8 Diesel? Detroit 2008: Audi unleashes its diesel monster, the R8 V12 TDI — Autoblog |

Hybrids don't work on the track too well, so not a good sports car choice (F1's second try not withstanding).

That's not the first teaser design, it won't be the last! But I do like it!

It would sell very well if it did JUST ONE of these these things: got 55+ mpg, handled like an NSX, did 0-60 in under 6 seconds, or cost under $15K loaded. |

I think Nissan should start with a more powerful V6 or even better an I6. And then just tune the crap out of it. Think 90's Toyota Supra. This car has very limited appeal, so it doesn't need more engines; it needs refinement. Make it 400 lbs lighter, DSG transmission, higher OD gear, oil cooler, ... so yeah ... pass on a hybrid and diesel - and focus on making the current car better.
