Folks, the styling is simply an artist's rendition for the article at hand. If anything the current styling rekindled the Z's heritage like no other in the lineage of the Z appealing to larger demographic than before. The mechanics of the newer drivetrains will have a heavy-hand in the styling direction.

Hybrid = heavy unless millions of dollars are invested in making it lightweight (Porsche 918 RSR). Any hybrid in the Z will be a 'run of the mill' hybrid and make it a 3800lb+ car. Bye bye handling.

There is currently little to no market for diesels in the USA. I for one have no desire to drive all around Chicago looking for diesel pumps. Yes, Audi and Peugeot have wicked diesel racers, but again, they have massive budgets. The Z wouldn't get a race diesel engine...it would get a regular car diesel engine with some tweaking.

I didn't buy a Z for fuel economy. I don't care if it gets 30+mpg. If that's what I was looking for, I'd have a Prius. I want a fast, fun, lightweight car that performs well. If Nissan wants to improve fuel economy and performance together, make the Z 500lbs lighter. Lets get some CF panels, aluminum spaceframe, etc. That's far better than futuristic drivetrains.

diesel in a sports car is a no go in my books.
If I get in a sports car I want a decently torquey high revving linear powerbnd motor.
a diesel is a high torque 1000 rpm power band motor. its just not right.
plus if you had a diesel in one of these somewhat light weight rwd sports cars traction control would be going off every other second. you wouldnt be able to apply the gas pedal on corner exit, you wouldnt be able to gun it from a stop light. you could nail it on the hwy and enjoy that instant torque *** kicking but then 2 seconds later its hit 3000 rpm and its on its face.

I completely agree.
What the F*** happened to all the lightweight nimble sports cars out there?
**** there are only a handful of production cars under 3500 pounds now. we going back to the damn 60's?

Thank you. I hate it when these renders are discussed as if they were the real thing. If you want to see what the potential future of a hybrid Z is, look at something more official from Nissan, the ESFLOW:





No word on where this concept fits for Nissan, but it's styling will likely have some influence on the future of Nissan's sports cars and the drivetrain can potentially be used, as well.

I like the headlights and wrap-around windshield, but the proportions are just way off. The 370z might be the last hoorah before it all turn digital. MT will be the 1st to go. It worked for the most part for the GT-R. It will be sad to see it go.

Concepts are just that, and rarely get it right.





I like this one that came out a few months ago and shows a better direction of Nissans design language.

I can see a mild hybrid setup that would have start stop function. That wouldn't be so offending on weight. A diesel however I just don't see it. Also the triple projector setup in te headlights is over the top. That would be cut for production.

I would like to see them come up with "Z" emblem. I do not like the Nissan logo. I mean the Mustang and Corvette and most respectable sports cars have their own emblem.
