+1
All of the naysayers need to watch the American LeMans series and watch the Audis and Peugeots to see just how freakin' fast a diesel can be.
Consider the fact that Porsche has come up with a machine that will do around 200 mph and get 76 mpg. 500HP V8 with 200HP of electric motors.

Seems to me that the "enthusiasts" are the ones holding back progress to better technologies.

"Mr. Ford. I don't need your silly horseless carriage. I'll stick with my two horses and buggy."

If this hybrid gets 30mpg, I can only imagine this Z will be light; hence handle as well, if not better, as the current car.

Having said, I still really love my '09 Z!

i like the look, other than it needs wider looking fender in the rear. As for engine, a diesel would be wrong, just wrong, hybrid, might be cool, if the weight stays low, the added power could be, scratch that, WOULD be awesome!

No kidding. I don't think they actually expected it to perform but sales wise, yeah. They should have released it with at least a 160 hp gas motor.

That said, I see some advantage to having a hybrid ASSIST gas motor. Tack on an extra 50 hp on demand to a 330 hp plus motor and I'd sign up. Depends on how much weight is added. A hybrid-on-demand system wouldn't require as many batteries (weight) as a hybrid like the CR-Z would.

Diesel, no thanks.

Personally, I think this Z car mock up looks fantastic.

I believe some are, single speed, fixed gear.

Feel free to look into it.

There are five speed manual transmission hybrid motors. Here's a hint, its a Honda.

why not? even almighty formula 1 cars are going "hybrid"
as for diesel, isn't audi dominating le mans with diesel engines or something?

did the race car companies do this voluntary or did they do it because the rules forced them to do it?

imo, the gas prices in the us are not high enough for most people who are into sports cars to select a hybrid engine car over a high performance car.

Maybe we all are going to own the last drivers car Z. lol... That hybrid and diesel crap is not going to happen. Picture chevy making a hybrid or diesel vett?? They would not be able to give them away, people flipped when they got rid of the pop of headlights.

is does look like a damn eclipse...so the current gen went back to its roots by making it have lines reminiscent of the first gen z’s... then this coming gen is going to look like every other car in the market?...

nonetheless i like the front fascia though... hope somebody creates a kit out of it...

I need to go hug my MT too.

I was recently offered a nice 300ZX tt with few miles upon it. I went to look at it and it had an auto. I didn't even ask the price or want to test drive it. To each his own. Mine will be manual for as long as it lasts.
