Did anyone watch the Top Gear episode when they reviewed the mustang? Yes its great to have all that HP, too bad it came with a craptastic suspension, and handles like an astro minivan. Dont get me wrong I'd sport a boss no problem, but for the money going apples to apples the Z beats the doors off the stang IMHO.
Of course I have always thought the stang was a poor man's muscle car, so I may be a little jaded. |

Which Mustang? Because my 2011 will blow the doors off my old 370 on a drag strip or road track.

Yeah but not many people can afford that. The labor itself is over $1,000,000. It requires a number of air strikes for the military to destroy all of the metal surrounding the doors.
Once they destroy the car and only the doors remain, they can install it on a new vehicle.

I doubt it was a 2011. If it was, the review was just based on their memories of the craptastic suspension in the past. It's still not perfect, but it's pretty damn impressive. Quote:

The only Top Gear Mustang review I remember was of the '05 that Hammond drove around the English countryside.

I know one of the suspension developers on the Mustang. He is an active SCCA racer in a Porsche. The Mustangs suspension has come a long way over past couple of years. If the Boss had come out earlier I may have purchased one! They had preproduction Mustangs out on Laguna Seca suspension tuning. Boss has very nice suspension setup with very firm Bilstiens.
Suspect the Boss could whip the 370 Z on a track. WOuld love to see top gear do Boss Laguna Seca edition review with maybe a 370Z Nismo and a Camaro SS. |

I'm not saying it's better, but it's very close. Obviously the cars feel very different but both seem to get around corners just as quickly as the other. From my experience the Mustang has a better balance. It rotates freely but requires a different driving style. The Z has more of an "on rails" feel until you start to lose the front end. It has quite a bit more understeer than the Mustang feels neutral with a hint of oversteer.

Ugh, that would suck if they did a direct comparison against the Z. It might make me do something I really shouldn't (financially speaking). Hell, just seeing one in person might send me over the edge.

No I dont believe it was the 2011. They put it on the dyno and then afterwards markered in "Almost" next to the 500HP stripe on the bottom. I havent read anything on the 2011 so they must of made some major changes to the suspension, cause when they took it through the hammerhead it was almost in the grass on the model they were testing. Ill see if I can find the episode and find out which model they were reviewing.
