i wasn't interested in the muscle cars like i do now when i bought my z.
i considered 3 cars: a corvette, a lotus exige, and a 370z nismo.
the exige was too small and i liked the looks of the z nismo more than the corvette.

30 years of Z car driving helped me make my decision. Jap reliability and expensive Corvette problems. If the GTR had a clutch I'd of bought one.

In 1995 it came down to a 300ZX tt or a 1965 Corvette. I fell in love with the 300 right off the bat and drove home in it.

Wasn't looking for a muscle car, but a sports car. A newer NSX in black auto was too rare so I gave up waiting. plus modern technology beckoned. The Cayman S PDK is very nice, but used models are still pricey and I was tired of driving an hour to my dealer.

Out of the major foreign manufacturers in town, the Z seemed like the only real sports car - pretty high tech, good handling, good acceleration. This board showed it didn't have many faults, and a used one with the options I wanted came available in town.

Some day I'll probably go back to a mid engine car tho.

These American muscle cars don't appeal to me and the used Z06 I test drove was on sale for the same price I paid for the brand new Z.

A well balanced RWD sportscar with impressive handling, power and looks.

On a side note, the other day I went to go fill up gas in my Z, some folks started talking pictures of my car....

It was a toss up between the 2011 WRX or STI sedans, or the 370Z. Needless to say I bought a used 2009 370Z, wrecked it.... and loved it so much that I came back to a 2010 40th Anniversary 370Z and didn't he take into consideration the retirement cars, such as a Mustang, Corvette, or Camaro.

I was looking at Mustang GT's and BMW 335i's/135i's.

I always wanted to get a Mustang GT growing up, but I knew they were coming out with the 2011's soon and I didn't want to be the slow mustang on the block. I didn't really want to put in the effort to supercharge it to bump the power up into the 400+hp range. Also, they are a dime a dozen.

The BMWs are really nice, but the maintenance is ridiculous and I was looking for something a little more true to a sports car vs a performance luxury.

The Z was affordable, a true two seater sports car, more rare than the other two, and I love the styling. I have to say that I have been very satisfied with my decision!

come on now some are not being fair.when the c5 vette came out in 97
it had a total make over.GM didn't use any parts from the 96...
and most will admit the c5 still turns heads even today after the c6 is out...

the only reason i rambled about that is i feel the 350 and the 370 share the
traits.

i lived thru the 70"s and to call the mustang, camaro, charger of today muscle
cars is just wrong imo. back then they were compact cars with big block v8
stuck in them.. there were roadrunners and gto's and other's that would blow their doors off..

The big boss at work owns a Porsche Cayman.

One of the department heads owns a Corvette.

I could afford a 370Z and am happy.

One of the guys just got a Camaro SS and I just don't care for it.

The new Mustang GT still interests me.

I drive the best car I can afford for now, and dream about tomorrow.

Thank goodness Spring is coming soon.

Today, you don't need big blocks to pump out the power. Compact cars? Not quite but much smaller than say a '70 Buick Electra by comparison. Today they are mid, if not, full size cars compared to a Honda Fit.

I love my '76. It's loud, the tranny whines, the ride is somewhat harsh and the seating is not comfortable for long hauls. However, parts are readily available and not that expensive and I can tune it with a screwdriver, wrench and my hearing/touching. And, it gets as many looks as my Z roadster.
