I don't have rodents so far but this is one reason why I stopped using car covers and pop the hoods often to ck during hibernation. Mothballs seems to have only limited effect. I had crushed mothballs under my trash bag on trash day and they still tore a hole in the bags.

So I suppose rats like Nissan wiring just like Honda's. I will have to replace the knock sensor wire harness on my girls Accord this week due rats chewing the wire. Sucks cause the whole intake manifold has to come off. What's funny is that the new harness is wrapped with rat tape.

Rats are a strange kind of problem; they eat wiring. What kind of wiring provides any nutrition? If anything they'll just die of heavy metal poisoning.

Since 2002 soy has been used as a partial substitute for petroleum based products in cars. Soy oil is used in making the rubber insulator jacket because it's more environmentally friendly and make the rubber more stretchable. It also makes it more edible.

Denver International Airport has even had problems with rabbits eating the wiring out of cars parked in long term parking. 9NEWS.com | Denver | Colorado's Online News Leader | Rabbits going after cars in popular DIA parking lot

This is probably a stupid question but why not jacket them with silicone? Is it too soft/not resilient enough? My first guess would be that it's too expensive.

You'd think they'd find something more ... tasty to chew on.
Also, SPOHN, 1000 posts? Nice.

Don't worry schrack, I hear new wiring harnesses add something like 20 WHP!

You'll have her back before you know it.

well....i got the car back today ! all nice and clean

the bill came out to about $2800.00 between a new wiring harness, spark plugs, and some hoses. I only had to pay $500 as insurance covered the rest. Also went and got the new tires mounted
