6mm spacer on rear wheels (sport) GREAT!

I installed an aluminum 6mm spacer on the rear wheels today. I will have pics soon, and I think it looks awesome. Wheels are very flush with quarter panels. Can someone educate me as to how to upload pics onto a post?

How do I add an image to a post?

If you have uploaded an image as an attachment, you can click the arrow next to the 'Attachment Icon' and select it from the list. This will be inserted into your post and can be located where you want it displayed.

To include an image that is not uploaded as an attachment and is located on another website, you can do so by copying the full URL to the image, (not the page on which the image is located), and either pressing the 'Insert Image' icon

or by typing [img] before the URL and [/img] after it, ensuring that you do not have any spaces before or after the URL of the image. You can insert pictures from your albums (?) in this way too.

You can upload your pictures at photobucket or out own album system.

The studs seam to be pretty long, I'm not sure the exact length. I put some 5mm washers on just to see how much thread was left, (did not leave them on, this was just a test) I got quite a few turns out of them, seams like it would be ok. It didn't seam to make a huge difference in looks though. I think 10mm, and maybe even 15mm on the rear, would be just about right, of course you would definitely need to replace studs then.

I don't think putting a spacer is a safe option,i would rather put a wider tyres in the rear[285/35-19].

Quality billet spacers with the proper studs should be fine. Porsche has done this for years. I've raced in HSR and PCA with spacers with no failures. The problems show up when people use poorly made cast metal universal spacers, sometimes stacked, to get the fit they want. I wouldn't use that type as a coaster for my coffee mug.

OK I am still working on inserting pics...I have never felt so illeterate. You all have asked great questions. I was trying a spacer to get a look at it and I love it . However, to do it right I need a proper spacer with new lugs and they are sold on e-bay. I have ordered a 10mm spacer kit. I think the rear tires/wheels sit in too far and the car can and will look more exotic with this change. All really nice supercars have almost flush wheels and fenders. I think the z can too. I will let you know how a 10 mm spacer looks, I am thinking on going 15mm too.

I don't think 6mm is going to be noticable. I think 20mm would be more flush.

I spent a while measuring the rear from every angle and 10mm is the most the rear can be spaced without hitting the quarter panel. It is noticeable!! I did it with a 6mm spacer and you could tell the difference. I will get better pics with the 10mm before and after and you can make your own decision. I think it is a great modification with minimal cost. ($110)

What brand of spacer are you using, John? I'm guessing you're not using the ones that come with their own studs. i.e., you still have to use the stock studs, right? Are the spacers you're using hub-centric?

Semtex asks some good questions. Ive used spacers on many of my cars, and for safety you must follow the guidelines.

Make sure they are hub centric.

Make sure lugs are long enough.

Make sure they are reputable brand.

Your installer should be aware of these issues. I had mine done by my tire shop who works on AMG, Bentley, Aston etc. So i knew i was in good hands. Just make sure you do the same to avoid any incident.

wouldnt 10mm or 20mm wider tires have the same effect? Im thinking whats wrong with 295's out on back.
