Yeah its making the adjustment, but sometimes its overly intrusive.

+1...I Have VDC off majority of the time! (just like i did with my g35c 6mt, off 99% of the time)
If you can't handle the car then keep it on! Its as easy as that.

Congrats on getting the car back!

Shocking that I'm still in one piece I'm sure.

Stop blaming VDC for every accident. Sh!t happens plain and simple.
This is true, but you have to have experience with the car. The car was still pretty new to him so driving with VDC off, in the rain, at night probably wasn't the brightest move and ultimately let to him spinning out of control which caused the collision. And yes, I also race in the race with VDC off and I'm often one of the fastest under those conditions.

I only have 1 rule. Drive within your limits.

Congrats on getting the car back! Dont pay too much attention to everyone giving you a hard time about VDC being off. I always drive with mine off and never have a problem. Seems like the accident was caused by getting cut off and you trying to swerve out of the way too quickly on a wet road.

...and you can't do THAT with VDC on! (actually, I haven't tried. But I will. I just need a gun and a protractor).

if VDC wasn't so overbearingly invasive i don't think people would turn it off as much. On my daily commute, VDC comes on several times, when i turn it off, i dont even notice those places because its not like it kicked in because the tail was going to spun out. There was maybe a slight loss of traction on one wheel and it totally bogs the whole car down. If nissan did a a better job of engineering it instead of it just being like 'OMG SLIGHT SLIP! STOP EVERYTHING!' less people would be turning it off

This is a good point. VDC makes it tough to learn the limits of the car because when it kicks in and shuts everything down, you are never sure whether it was due to a tiny bit of a wheel slip or because the back end was about to whip around. I don't understand why it can't just slow things down to the extent necessary, rather than shutting it all down for a second.

I'm not sure if its as much about learning the limits as it is about just performing well with it on. The fact of the matter is if you're sick of it coming in a shutting everything down, the only alternative is shuting it off, so its all or nothing. If there was a button on our cars called 'safe mode' and it wouldn't let the engine rev over 4k and you couldn't go over 55, yes that would probably be less accident prone, but if the only way to turn it off was to turn on 'death mode' which turned off ABS, VDC, Airbags, power steering and threw in a 100 shot of NOS when you least expect it, you don't really have a really fun choice on your hands.

VDC's biggest downfall in keeping the car out of accidents is how overbearing it is. If there were varying levels of VDC people would be less likely to just shut it off, but if its 'annoying nanny that ruins all the fun' or the slight risk of spinning out, i think a lot of people choose the latter, and on a modern sports car like this, it shouldn't be so black and white.
