The problem is, most dealers tend to up the invoice price by around $1000 to cover the 2.87% discount provided by the program. Second, the discount only applies to the car itself and none of the options or destination charges. Also, once you mention this program, the dealership pretty much ends the negotiations with you, and will only offer the their incorrectly calculated VPP price. They will use some excuse like this is the lowest price, we can't even buy it at that price. When I purchased my Z, I actually got a much better price WITHOUT the VPP pricing(around $1500 less).

Real VPP pricing is around $100 or so under invoice. It does account for all the factory options. It does not include dealer added items. Transportation is a fixed, non discounted number. Sounds like your dealing with a dishonest dealer that did not show you the VPP calculation which is figured by Nissan after VIN input and revealed in a very exact worksheet calculated off Nissan's records of price not the dealers.
$1500 off your "Fake" VPP may be possible, $1500 off real VPP would mean the dealer is Paying you to buy the car. I doubt that was the case..

1. If the dealer "ups the invoive price" to erase the VPP discount then they simply aren't participating in the VPP program and if the dealer says they are participating in the VPP program but "upping the price" then they are lying to you and you should run; not walk, away.

2. The VPP is, by definition, a non-negotiated price and is a straightforward mathmatical calculation. The only negotiating that should possibly take place would be with regards to the trade-in value of your trade-in (if you have one) and your are, of course, free to negotiate the price of any dealer installed options if you choose to buy them.

3. True - the VPP price does not apply to dealer installed options.

4. It is, under the right circumstances, possible to buy a new Nissan or Infiniti at a lower price than the VPP program can provide. This will sometimes be the case if you are buying a vehicle that the dealer has a bunch of that no one seems to want to buy (like this time last year when they couldn't keep a Versa or Sentra on their lots but had tons of Pathfinders, Xterras, Titans, etc.).

It can also be true on such vehicles as the 350Z roadster - dealers who still have them may well be willing do makd a great deal on one knowing that the new 370Z roadster is almost ready to hit the market.

Or, ff you are the best living negotiator in the world you my be able to get a better deal than the VPP program will give you on any vehicle.

However...under most/normal circumstances, it's unlikely that you'll be able to beet the deal you can get using the VPP and I'd suggest that those who claim otherwise either aren't being honest or have been deceived by their dealer.

The VPP deal is very straightforward; the basics stated here:

Dealer participation is completely optional and not all dealers will and that's Ok. What isn't Ok is if you are using a dealer who claims he is giving you the VPP price but isn't following the VPP mandates - where I come from; that's cally lying and I woudl find a new, honest dealer.

However, YOUR participation is also completely voluntary so feel free to not participate.

Now, there is nothing wrong with this being your first post nor is there anything wrong with being in Cypress but understand that the Nissan VPP program being discussed here is for the United States only...I note that just in case we aren't talking apples to apples here.

When you say that, $1500 less than MSRP or Invoice?( Since you didn't go with VPP).

All the pricing are released to all the members here. They exactly know how much this car cost MSRP and invoice. Here's our invoice pricing thread. Members compared VPP pricing with invoice and then went with VPP. Which clearly indicates, VPP IS less than invoice. Less by how much, I do not know. I bought my car before this thread was created.

Cypress is a suburb of Houston in the state of TX, located in the USA.
I did get the car $1300(1500 was a typo) under what Edmunds states the invoice before TTL, and paid cash.

Every dealer I went to in the Houston area would either say they don't participate in VPP pricing or quote some ridiculous number(very strange getting different VPP prices from different dealers). When I called them out on it, they would just argue that the price was "pre-negotiated" and could not be changed. I eventually ended up purchasing the vehicle from Dallas without it.

I am just saying be beware of dishonest dealers.

Are most people's dealers finding their cars from other dealerships? Is there a way to have a car made/ordered through VPP?

At this point, at least to take advantage of VPP (from me during this offer) you would likely need to find the car you wanted.

You can use VPP on an "ordered" car but I believe the claim number will expire in 90 days even if you have an order pending.

Anyway to verify that the VPP won't apply if it expires before an ordered car comes in? I'm looking to order with the VPP but will have to wait to even put the order in until July 1st as thats when the next order can be made by the dealer. Then another 8wks until it gets here, assuming it's on time. They never mentioned that my VPP pricing would run out, alhough I know that 90 days is when it does run out. I figured as long as I ordered the car before the 90 days were up I would be okay. I didn't realize I needed to order it and take delivery before the 90 days were up.

I thought as long as one got his/her order in, he/she would be fine, but after Robert's recent reply to this thread, I don't think so anymore?

I would say that your best bet is to talk to the dealer in advance. Tell them you are wanting to order a 370z with vpp but you don't know if you can take delivery beforethe time runs out. Maybe they will work with you to keep the sale, if they say no walk away and try a different dealer. If they do agree to something then I would get something in writing that way they can't change their mind when the car gets there. Or maybe you would get lucky and the car would make it in time. That is just my two cents the dealers are the only ones that can give you a real answer on this so we should be asking them. If anyone does, post up what they were told. Thanks

I wish I simply knew the answer here but I don't.

I would suggest either going through your dealer and let him get the details or I'd call VPP administration - they should be able to answer this question. If that doesn't work then PM me and I'll try to get a definitive answer myself.

VPP's help/information line is available Monday - Friday 7am to 7pm CST (800)299-4753.

If it looks like the numbers expire no matter what (order pending or not) then when the time comes, if you've got a car on order and your number has expired then contact me again and if I have any numbers left from my yearly allotment I'll issue you guys a new claim number - my only caution with that is that other than this promotion that ends in a few days, I'm limited in the number of claim numbers I can get and it's possible I won't be able to get one but I'll to my best.

Wow...I've issued over 110 separate VPP claim numbers at this point and just finished up the last couple I had waiting on me.

This is just a reminder that if anyone is just now finding this thread and/or has been on the fence/waiting I need your requests today if at all possible and by the end of the day tomorrow (Wednesday the 24th) at the very latest.

As I've mentioned earlier, although this promotion officially runs through June 30th, I'll be traveling starting early Friday morning (the 26th) and so I need to get any remaining claim numbers issued before I leave in to make sure they are issued before the program ends.

The claim numbers I issue to you are under the "C" plan.

In order to participate, I need you to PM me with the full name (F/M/L) of the person the vehicle will be titled to as well as your full mailing address.
