For those ready to buy a 370/other new Nissan or Infiniti Vehicle

Hey Bob, Thanks again for your help. I'm still waiting on the Roadster, but I checked with the Dealer already and they are just fine selling under the VPP program.

The VPP still exists; what doesn't exist is my ability to issue as many claim numbers as I wish; I issued over 130 in a three month period while usually I couldn't issue more than a few per year.

This was a special promotion that began April 1st. and ran through June 30th.

Robert,

Sorry for the email... I should have read the entire thread before requesting a number. I'm ready to purchase, but just found this sticky... if this program should start up again, I'd love to have a shot at getting a #.

Thanks!

No problem...I've had several people contact me asking if they can still participate; unfortunately I've had to say no as I've already "promised" most of my limited yearly allotment.

For those who may be wondering; the results of the drawing to win the free use of a Nissan/Infiniti vehicle for a year won't be known until sometime in September (to allow dealers who processed VPP sales to get their paperwork submitted)...once I know if I've won or not I'll let folks here know.

Typically don't do well in such drawings so as Ben Franklin used to say (paraphrasing); I tend to be a pessimist so that when good things happen I can be pleasantly surprised!

Dealers can do anything they want but "lower price" is pretty nebulous.

With VPP the customer pays a specific, easily computed amount above what a dealer actually paid Nissan for the vehicle meaning the dealer makes a specific profit on the sale. For a dealer to sell the vehicle lower than the VPP proce means they are giving up some or all of that guaranteed profit or even taking a loss on the sale.

Will a dealer sometimes sell a vehicle for little or no profit or even at a loss? Sure.

Does it happen very often? Not if they want to stay in business.

Thumbs up In the Market

Rob,

I will be in the market within the next couple of month's to purchase a 370Z.
I see you're in the Nashville A/O, I'm familiar with it, I was stationed at Fort Campbell a while back. I would like to pick up a 2010 model. T/SP, MB, 6MT, persimmon interior with Nav, mudflaps and AKP's. I've looked on the Nissan website, it mentions the revisions but does not provide a goes on sale date. I'm figuring Sept/Oct time frame. If you can help in any way to get a better deal, i'm all for it..! Dave

As I said, it's a no-haggle price that, at least usually, is a better deal than most people generally get negotiating on their own.
Better than invoice pricing?

By about a Hundred dollars in my case (Robert got me a VPP #). The average buyer can negotiate that deal pretty easily in this market.

Default Update...

Hi everyone!

I just thought I'd update everyone...as you know, the promotion ended on June 30th. Nissan allowed a couple of months to pass to give dealers time to get their paperwork in since that's they only way they know what claim numbers resulted in actual sales.

All that to say, I was not one of the contest winners. Nevertheless, I want to thank everyone who participated and gave me chance to win...I truly appreciate it.

In other news, I've ordered a 2010 Touring Roadster that I expect will be here sometime in October!

Default negotiating?

I am about to put an order in on Tuesday for a 2010 touring, sport (MT - not roadster). Do you think anyone will negotiate with me? Or will I be paying msrp? They said they didn't have pricing for 2010s, but would put in an order. Just wondering what to expect (I never "ordered" a vehicle).

They did a region check for me and we couldn't find any (touring, sport mt) in the region. Would they be likely to take a little of msrp? Any guesses?
