haha i might go test the convert in the spring when i get the oil change, i have a feeling that once i get back in the 40th i will be fine. btw how does the Z sound with the roof down? You must love hitting the gas and hearing the exhaust!!

If you were first making a purchase and didn't have either yet, this would be a more reasonable question. But, if you have the cash to make the change, it's still reasonable.
The only strong functional aspect for the coupe is if you plan to track the car. Roadsters can get denied from many events unless you have a formal cage installed. Tracking out of the question, I'd vote for the roadster these days. The gorgeous summer days have had me wishing I could retract the top and hear the sweet sound of the exhaust. I'd suggest installing an aftermarket exhaust so you can really hear the Z let loose with the top down.

to the Roadster! I get attention everywhere I go, even a cop stopped me to say, "nice car!" There's nothing that beats driving the Roadster with the top down.

I didn't mean to imply that everyone was hatin' . As far as roof-lines go, the coupe and 'vert are different to be sure, but I like both -- to me there is something exotic about the look of the roadster.
The cloth top is actually nice --- if it holds up -- a big improvement over the vinyl top of the 350ZR. I actually think a hard-top Z convertible would look kind of off not to mention be much heavier...

the biggest problem with the convertable for me is the butt.
its so swollen and stretched. also that cheap cloth roof. I personally view a convertible not as a performance car but a car for cruising on warm days. and there is always the issue of tracks not accepting stock convertibles. if I REALLY wanted a convertible car I would of bought a Z4 same HP(though I noticed the new one has 340) and a metal roof. I saw the roof coming up and down at a car show and it was sex. |

I have to say that the 2011 BMW Z4 is beautiful. I generally hate convertibles as far as the overall look. The Z4 and the vette are the only 2 good looking converts under 60k imo. Of the 2, I would only buy the bimmer. Getting back on topic... I would keep the 40th. Putting my personal feeling about verts aside. The 40th is a limited production vehicle and has a high chance to be a collectible. There will be verts every year on the Z. Keep the 40
