Where is your new Z going to go???
All right, so I kind of jacked this idea from the Top Gear episode where the guys go off in search of the world's greatest driving road, but forgive me, because I think the upcoming Z could be an absolute back road SLAYER. I mean, if the Chevy Cobalt SS can post .93g+ on the skidpad and a 70+mph slalom, the Z should be able to do it, right? So, if that's the case, it'll be a car that begs to be flogged on the twisties. This is the question I pose to the forum: when your car is good and broken in, where are you gonna take her? I'll start.
The only direct route from my hometown of Boise, ID to my alma mater in Moscow, ID is a two lane rural highway complex. No interstates at all. In particular, the blast from Eagle, ID to McCall, ID is just that, A BLAST. On ID 55, you climb out of Eagle over a foothill pass, playing in S curves and fast sweepers all the way. From there, it's a downhill run into Horseshoe Bend, where you creep through that town if you know what's good for you. The state troopers like to pick off unsuspecting motorists where the speed limit comes down. Out of H.B., you're faced with a canyon run out to McCall, with the highway mimicking the winding river that runs just beneath it. I'm talking quick straights, tight, decreasing radius turns, lots of elevation change... it ain't Deal's Gap (from what I've heard) but it's the best driving road I've ever been on. It's also longer, about 90 miles. There's a great log cabin restaurant you can stop at outside of Cascade, ID with a big parking lot that drivers can meet up at. McCall is a ski town in the winter, but it's got a lake, bike paths, hunting, fishing, and for the pampered set, a 5 star resort, so summer isn't too terrible either. Great road, great destination. I got to run it 10+ times, sophomore year in college. My steed of choice? '86 300zx NA 5MT. If I can get back there, it'll be the first road that I'll attack in the new Z. So let's hear it guys, where are you going to go in yours?? S.

In Italy we have beautiful roads, but I like very much to climb the Swiss mountains. Lake Maggiore in not so far from Switzerland.
Also, I'm lucky because I've got some nice roads near to home, like a mountain road half an hour from home. I'm speaking about going for a real drive, but I also like very much going for a real trip, I like travelling on a sports car. Lake Maggiore is very nice to drive around. In 2005 I went to Normandy with my 350Z, It has been one of the most beautiful trips. I think I'll go back there on my future 370Z.. |

Living in Jersey kinda sucks because we really don't have any good scenic roads or great twisties. All we have is plain highways and expressway. Also, being one of the most crowded state in the united states doesn't help. BUT, we recently have a new track opened in Milleville, NJ. Here's the website Welcome to New Jersey Motorsports Park So far the feedback/review have been great. It's a great track. I wouldn't mind running my Z here.

Here in SC we've got a lot of back winding roads, and hilly roads, not to mention budget cuts in our state gov't that reduced the number of highway patrolmen significantly. I can definately see myself paddle shifting and swerving through traffic, down I-20. That NJ motorsports park looks sweet though. I hope I can find one like it close to SC.

Theres a mini track located inside the BMW PCD in spartanburg. Im not sure if they allow private cars in their track, you'd probably have to enroll in one of their driving schools to use it.

It's going to a shop where I can get my rims powder coated to black first!
Then I'm off to edgewater and paramus! It's going to be a beautiful day that day... :<

We bought our Z strictly for fun road trips. 99% of the miles on our Z are from trips. I would highly recommend a trip through the Southeast. The Smoky Mountain area has some of the best driving roads in the world. The Tail of the Dragon, Cherohala Skyway, and you can't forget the Moonshiner 28 that goes from the Tail to Walhalla SC. We have done different versions of this trip in 5 different fun sporty cars in the last 7-8 years and have plans to go again in the next car we buy. Hopefully soon because my Z is up for sale. Going to miss her!
