Thanks for that. Looks like quite a critical process. Don't think I'm brave enough to go for it myself.

That's what I would have done if my wife shared my logic. Unfortunately, she didn't quite agree.

Actually, guys I have another question, hoping you can help. My paint has all those fine little scratches all over it - from previous cleaning I guess, done with little care.

Is there any SIMPLE process for getting rid of these? Any special cleaner/wax I can just buff on by hand a few times or something? The dealership said "Mothers". I'm from UK, now in US - I didn't realize Mothers was a brand for a WHOLE LINE of stuff, so I'm still none the wiser.

I searched the forum and found those Jumkman vids, but that looks about as involved as respraying the thing, which I can't afford to do any time soon.

So yeah, simple process and the name of restoration products (if any)... that's what I need...

those are called swirls. you can use a foam pad with ScratchX and some elbow grease... will take about 3-5 apps depending on how deep it is. then wax afterwards.

personally i use my random orbital to polish those out.

you need to use the 2 bucket method when washing your car and blot dry. otherwise you'll get all sorts of swirls in solid colors like your red.

Awesome. I had to Google of few of your terms there (haha) but I've got it. ScratchX to treat, and from there on two-bucket method to wash without causing more swirls. Thanks again, you're a champion.

So ScratchX is better than that Mothers stuff then I take it? What wax do you use? Is there a good store I can buy all this stuff, or should I order it from a particular website? I have nothing, no cloths, no sponges, I don't even have two buckets. My whole life here is new.

Just suck it up and go to adams polishes and get the Junkman kit. you will love the results... It is an all day process, but at the end of the day it looks wonderful...

Besides you have a lovely wife to bring you beer...

not sure if it's 'better' or not but SratchX is a very mild polish with dimishing abrasives so it's easy to use.

as for wax i use Prima Hydro (spray polymer) for my dd's and Griot's Best of Show on my G and Z. Since my G/Z dont see any rain or snow lately ive only used Griot's SprayOn Wax and SpeedShine to keep the finish maintained. water/detailer spray beads like crazy.

like last year i didn't even have to wash either cars because they were spotless and only needed to use SprayOn CarWash on areas that got a little splashed. the rest i only used SpeedShine.

After all of your advice, I looked around. Adam's sh*t's really expensive but all the reviews for it are gleaming. So maybe I could just get:

Adam's Basic Wash & Wax Kit

...and:

Adam's Swirl & Haze Remover Car Polish

...for the swirls, just to keep it all same-brand. But then again this is a LOT cheaper:

Starter Car Care Kit - Cleaners - Car Washing - Car Care - Griot's Garage

Yup, exactly.

So, I spent over two hours yesterday re-arranging boxes and other old junk in the garage so I could actually get the Z in there. Got there in the end, and I'm so much more content knowing it's not in the sun all day, or in the eyes of potential wheel thieves.

I also went on a spending spree yesterday for cleaning products for it (after hassling Kenchan to no end ).

I just decided to go with all Meguiars stuff for now, since I can purchase it locally, and try out other brands next. I had to buy new cloths and two buckets as well since it's my first car in the US. (If you see anything I really shouldn't use, holla with a 'STOP' before I break out the hose this evening).
