The second gear clutch thing was my MAIN issue - I thought I was doing something wrong/being a noob. I'll gas it a little as I re-engage if that's what you do, I'm just worried about causing extra clutch wear with the opposite-direction slip if I do it that way. Baseless paranoia?

I was also worried my clutch was high. It bites REALLY high, like you said. The dealer said brand new Zs have high clutches but I wasn't convinced. New cars I've driven before always bite super low. So was there more truth in his claim than I thought?

tanooki- you should be able to engage 2nd with light throttle with NO clutch slipping. you're just giving just a tad of throttle to maintain flywheel speed.

the full clutch engagement point is pretty high on the z, but it starts grabbing pretty close to the floor. should be no issue.

Congrats on your new car! I wanted a Z since 2002. It took a long time to get it out of my head. That desire came back when the 370Z was introduced. I was seriously considering the 370Z for 2 months. Then, I found this forum. Signed up on a Sunday to try to find out things to watch out for and reasons not to get the car. Went test driving on Wednesday, bought the car on Friday. So for me, it was kind of a long-ish wait too, but glad I bought a 370Z. Red is a great colour...I probably would have gotten that if I couldn't get the 40th. Enjoy.

Welcome to my world around a year ago. I knew I wasn't getting it until after our wedding in Jan 2011. I knew the long wait was ahead. It killed me, and all I did was rant on about it every day. Don't worry, it'll all be worth it in the end when you drive off the lot. It's such an amazing feeling after such a long, painful wait.

It was nice running into u today..as I pull in to park and saw a red Z I immediately knew it was u since u didn't have a license plate yet lol..Red was one of my choice as well but it's gonna be more for insurance and registration..plus it's a cop magnet so I didn't get it..nice color though

Yeah I heard about the cop thing, I didn't know it was more on insurance and registration though. Dammit!

Man, I was REALLY looking for a blue one but they're just so damned rare. I could never find one and when I did it was always base-no-sport, or automatic, or full of all the extras which I didn't want. I specifically wanted a manual, sport, and the only extra I wanted was the light-up kick plates. And red was my second choice, that's why when I saw this one, with everything just the way I wanted, I just jumped on it.

This is something I found on adjusting the clutch for a lower engagement point. How To Lower Clutch pedal engagement in a Infiniti G37 or Nissan 370z Nice Z brother, I'm sure u'll take good care of it.

Yeah, I already know the wit is going to be killer. Especially during my deployment cause I know as soon as I get back to the States it's straight from the plane to the dealership lol. Congratulations on your wedding.

Couldnt you have postponed the wedding so you could get the car first? Where is your sense of priorities?

Bride pays for wedding. Z is dowry.

Nissan rules. I didn't make them up.

from the way the light reflected off it in the deck that gave me an idea. that red would look pretty good with a single white stripe on it in the middle. nice pics of both rides
