Picking up my Z tomorrow. Good to drive in 33-36F weather?
Finally will be picking up the car, as I understand it's not too good to drive the summer tires in <45 F weather. It'll be 33-36F tomorrow and it's 2.5hour drive one way.
I have winter wheels for the car already but I'm wondering if I should bother to change out the wheels right there before heading out. I have to put in spacers as well.

As long as its not snowy/icy you should be fine to drive home on the summer tires. Being that youre in NYC you should probably expect some ice at least. Still I dont think its reason enough to swap tires just for the trip. Just make sure VDC is on and youre being careful.
Being that its nearly a week into February I would contemplate not even putting the snow tires on at all till next winter. They tend to wear down quickly on dry roads and you want to get as much life out of them as possible. Congrats!

ive driven my Z in 30F no issue in the dry, but as mentioned above, make sure you dont drive in snow/ice. a little powdered snow is okay since your tires are new and can tread the snow but anything more than 1/2" could be dangerous.
drive slow, keep VDC on, be careful. have fun. |

It should be fine as long as you drive carefully. I bought mine a few weeks ago and it was snowing while I was driving home from Pennsylvania to Maryland. The snow wasn't sticking to the road though, so I got lucky with that. Good luck and Congrats!

You'll be ok but drive cautiously. And as your snow tires, put them on when you get home. February is not close enough to the end of winter to say "save them for next season". They wear quickly if it's warm, not if you drive them on dry pavement in the cold. Mine are midway into their second season and still have tons of tread.

NYC doesn't still have slush all over the roads like we do? If so,.... I dunno man. Otherwise, I drove with summer tires on dry pavement in 16 degree weather before. It's just loud, and go slowly

OP, I put Hankook Ventus A4 all season's on for the fall and winter because I was getting nothing by wheel spin with the stock tires when temps were in the 40's (keep in mind, the stock tires were 18" Yokohamas).

I have putted around with my stock tires in the ice storm Dallas just had. It is more like the other drivers you have to worry about. This car is really easy to predict where it wants to go.

No-matter how long you drive on summer tires or "warm them up", the road will always be cold and they won't grip for beans. |
