FairladyZ???
Can someone explain to me what the difference is in a "FairladyZ" and the 370Z? I can't seem to see anything different than the name?:ugh2:
|
In Japan the car is the "Fairlady Z" across all model years.
For the US market they call each model the "### Z" based on engine size. 300Z, 350Z, 370Z... you get it. It'd be like if Ford sold the Mustang in America but called it the "460 GT" or "500 GT" in the rest of the world. |
Fairlady Z is the name of the car in Japan. 370z is the name of the car in the US. I believe in Europe and other countries too. Not sure about that. From what i heard, US didnt want to sell the car named fairladyz because they thought that consumers would not drive around a car named fairlady. I got rid of my 370z and added fairladyz cause its a sexy name.

I'm looking for the correct Fairlady Emblem for my Z.
|
What do you mean the correct fairladyz emblem.
|
I didn't see this come up in a search, but I found a French article about the 2011 FairladyZ (Z34) and how it has a "Snow Mode" for slippery roads and better starts. Is this for the JDM or Euro version of the car only? See link: Nouvelle Nissan 370Z Coupé et Roadster 2011: Améliorations de rigueur | AutoBuzz and have Google Translate put it into English for you..
|
I have no clue if its only jdm or euro. But i know one thing. US Zs blow compared to euro and jdm versions.
|
wat? Because you drive on the left side of the car?
|
All I can say is thank God they didn't call it a "Fairlady Z" in the US. If there's a worse name for a car I'm not sure what it is.

Let's look at some differences. In the US, you can buy trims that include a base trim (so you can save money up front and mod how you like) to the Nismo trim. Those aren't available everywhere. In fact, in Canada, all Z's are sport/touring. In Canada and other places, you get the rear fog lamp. I ordered one with a switch. Cost me a couple hundy, but that's what I wanted. If you don't buy one, you're missing out on one extra light. In other places you can get a rear wiper. oh noes. In Japan, it's called a Fairlady. Not a better or worse name imo, just different. In Europe, you could have bought the 40th anniversary trim in grey or black. I may be wrong, but I think the 40th came with nav in other countries, not in the US, but that's just one option on one trim, and there are aftermarket options. something something right hand drive So yeah, US Z's just blow.:ugh2: |
All US Zs are made in the factory in Japan wear the euro/jdm Zs are made so there is no quality difference. For manufacturing concerns companies want to limit differences that go to different countries. Gone are the days when the JDM car is completely different than the US car. They make a special trim for a certain country but that's rear and more likely to just be a special option.

secondly, its a sports car, and like a book or movie the name is a part of the overall package. sorry, but I am not a fan of "My Fairlady" the movie (which has zero relationship to the car) and I don't care for the soft sounding name. again, you are free to use it. To me it sounds weak, not sexual. If they called the car "True Grit" in Japan I wouldn't like that either. In that case, it would sound better, but still wouldn't fit. and lastly, "just too many guys in the states that are scared about there sexuality" really? that's your line of thinking on this? well, at least you've thought it through but you should probably consider speaking for yourself. I'm happy for you that you are proud of who you are and your sexual orientation. I've always been straight so that whole aspect of being afraid of who you are never occurred to me. My wife doesn't like it either, I bet she'll be real surprised to find out shes just scared of her sexuality. heh. |

Wow, well thanks for answering my question regarding the "Fairlady" Z. As for me, the 370Z name works just fine!

hope nobody else "wonders you" today. |
I would prefer a Z emblem where my Nissan emblems currently reside.
I had a Brit talking to me about a 370 Fairlady he saw in China town. He was impressed because he had a Fairlady 1600 back in the 60's. He likes the name. |
Obviously, ppl are entitled to their opinions, guys. Come on.

sorry but mythological creatures > some name from a movie that has nothing to do with the car. The nissan Dragon Z. they should just call it nissan dragonball Z |
They can try to steal the mustang heritage and call it the bulletZ

I just don't feel like it fits a sports car more for something like a family car. I mean Nissan Skyline GT-R >>>> nissan fairlady Z. Quote:

I like dragonball z....but then again I am only 18 and when I was young it was the big thing...

I don't care about the movie and what it is about. Doesn't change the fact that fairlady is a sexy name for this car. Get over the whole movie ordeal damn. As far as the name for a sports car thank you for proving my point. You are to worried about flexing your muscle and the image the name will give you. Worried the girls will gigle at you if you said that name if someone asked what you drive. Me on the other hand will wear a shirt advertising it and more chicks will want to ride in it. Also who cares if is anime? Is that a free pass for it to suck? |
I have no problem with anyone who perfers 370 from Fairlady, but to make fun of the Fairlady Z name just shows me who the real Z enthusiast is and who just wanted a fast fancy looking car. The car is Japanese and in Japan its called the Fairlady, and to have to change that name because Americans would feel insecure about owning a car with that name is pretty sad. Fairlady is not just a name, its the history of the car so back off a little. LOL.
P.S... Nicely said toner123.. Maybe some of these guys should buy a MUSTANG or CAMARO, maybe a CHALLENGER. |
