Doesnt surprise me, nissan had commented in 2009 that it wasnt moving the amount of 370z's that they wanted to. I can go to a few local dealers here in miami and still easily find some 2010's that are left over.

I'm curious also, but keep in mind, the US is the biggest auto market (although China may catch up in coming years). So US sales matters most to many companies, including Nissan. And keep in mind that if it tanks here and booms there, they may just make the model exclusive to Japan.

They did that with the RX7 for a few years after they stopped selling them in the states. Not sure about it but I think that happened with the last gen Supra also.

Same as the 300ZX. US stopped in 1996 but it kept selling in Jap until 2000. I remember thinking Jap super cars were gone for good...The RX-7, Supra and the Z all gone

Me, too. It really saddened me, and I hope we're not heading right back to those days.

I wouldn't mind if it was another end of an era... I figure I'll have one of the last all-gasoline sports cars out there...I don't know if I would consider the 370 a super car since the GTR is the flagship...But I guess that's debatable... And I would be excited to see some high performance, affordable electric cars. The instant power/torque of electric unreal and once it becomes attainable for "normal" people it will be the explosion of a new era.

I can appreciate that. I just want performance cars to continue to do well. Be they hot hatches, FR sports cars, lightweight roadsters, muscle cars, or even hybrid or electric sporty coupes. As an enthusiast, I don't want the car landscape to get boring like it did in the late nineties, early naughties. It's nice right now. We've got an active hot hatch and muscle car segment roaring, and the choice is wide open if one's looking for fast and fun transportation. I'd like it to remain that way.

I wonder how much the 370Z sales have been affected by the availability of used models. I bought one in Jan 2011 too, but it was a used one so it is not included in those figures. For those who couldn't afford a new one, there was much less availability of used models back in 2009 and 2010.

With more choices in the market, a purposely smaller run in production, higher MSRP, and ailing economic issues ongoing (unemployment still double-digits) - these are normal numbers. As long as Nissan sells everything they produce, the 370Z is a success to them.

Is Nissan's target still around 10,000 per year?

With every month that passes by, I just can't imagine there being a next gen Z. I want to believe the guy at ZCON that there will definitely be a next gen, but the numbers just don't support the costs of redesign. Back in 03-05, when they were moving 30k units a year, it made sense to give another generation even if sales had slid in 07/08. This time around, the Z hasn't been a wild success. They had to slash their original 30k estimate in 09 down to 10k. ;(
