Spoke to Nissan rep at Philly car show
Was at the Philly car show today and spoke to the Nissan rep there for a few mins, who was a really nice guy and seemed reasonably informed. I asked what the future held for the Z and he said that they've been told that the 2012 will be getting direct injection that will bump hp to approx 360. He also said the car will have a revised front and rear facia. I asked if he knew of a release date and he said they didn't have a definite date yet, but his best guess would be mid-summer.
I realize anything short of an official announcement is hearsay, but I thought you guys would find this interesting nonetheless. |
direct injection? damn it...
I would hope that if that information is true, GTM or likewise will come out with a direct injection conversion. I am looking forward to seeing what the new fascia looks like though!
If this Is true Don't big a 2011.

That'd be pretty neat if they did that...
ehhh...cant justify a trade in if this is true. ill wait to see the dynos and how well they take to mods>>> right now all i can be happy about is if the crack VVEL

A DI mode would be cool, but at what price?
Can anyone explain direct injection (Newb)?
It's about time - mebbe an upgrade? :D
Hopefully the price premium won't be drastic - most of the other car manufacturers have introduced DI engines with little change in MSRP. |

Another issue, I've read, is carbon buildup on the valves, as there's no wash of fuel over them to clean them up. |
indirect injection fuel and air are pre mixed in the intake manifold, in Direct injection they are not, air still comes in via intake mani but fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder...resulting in more power,
Hmmm, choices choices!
Nissan rep or car show presenter?
Grr. Maybe I will wait to 2012. I wasn't really expecting power boost.
