Only Porsche (911) and Ferrari engines have a higher specific output, they also rev a lot higher then our VQ. Even the Cayman S "only" makes 94.1 hp/l with DI
Great point

I remember when the E46 M3 came out and everyone was talking about how it was one of only (insert small number here) production cars in the world producing over 100hp/L. Although the increase in horsepower would not affect performance by much in real world settings, it is still important in this big pissing contest.

I see so many guys here in So Cal with exotics pushing out 400-600 horsepower that can't drive the car at all, but they still want to say they have that much power.

From a marketing standpoint, the HP numbers, 0-60 time, etc. definitely provide talking points and do generate interest. They make for magazine coverage and get people on the lots.

Mazda RX8=178HP per litre.....great handling car, but goes to show how numbers on paper can be deceiving.

Can you compare a rotary though?! The Renesis was such a disappointment.

That's what I'm saying...it doesn't always translate to the real world. Also, having owned an RX-8 I wasn't really disappointed. It's an impressive engine that's desperately needs FI. That much power from a rotary with that much displacement is still relevant considering a 13B N/A with roughly the same displacement were making around 115hp/liter a decade before.

The Z coupe and G coupe are siblings. If there is a change in one's platform then it won't take long for the change the move to the other.

The new Mustang Gt 5.0 is way out of our league, it can actually be hanging with the e92 m3 at the track, the gt 5.0 aint just a straight line machine anymore especially if you get that brembo package.

but then i cant say the same for the camaro.

but either way driving a 370z and the gt 5.0 would be real different.
but if you want better times, the gt 5.0 would win hands on.

i agree, the 370z does need the DI. but there are way too many rumors, even about the Z getting the hybrid and diesel engines from Benz, has that been even confirmed yet?

We just gotta sit and wait right?

Hang on a sec. I would not classify the E92 M3 as a track car; it does have power and gets good times (like the 5.0), but it is not a track car, nor the 5.0; they happen to be cars that can go fast around a track (just like the CTVS or M5). Both of those cars are GTs; they have a degree of power, but are too heavy, long, or not enough power to be 'track cars'. Z06s, GTRs, GT3s; those are track cars. I would still take a 1M coupe, 370z, Cayman S, TTRS to the track over a 5.0 or M3, better yet a Z06, GTR, or GT3!!!! The M3 and 5.0 are fast GT cars on the track, but not track cars.

I also had an RX8 and completely agree.

wow you make a really good point.

but all i was saying is that nevertheless the gt will have better times, and times is what always matter to most people.

but yeah they are GT's

anyway, the 370z's VQ engines are getting old.
