370z production

Has Nissan limited the production of the Z recently or changed anything on how many are being produced & shipped to the US? Thanks.

"Nissan announced today that it would cut production by 78,000 vehicles and reduce its work force by 500 temporary workers. It said that “further reduction is necessary to manage inventory levels and ensure a balanced production supply, in response to continued declines in global vehicle sales.”

The Japanese automaker said that it will implement non-operating days and reduce production line speed at its Kyushu plant along with its Yokohama Iwaki plant. The VQ engine assembly line will be reduced to one shift as of mid-January.

Over the last year, Nissan has cut production by a total of 225,000 units or 16 percent of its initial production forecast for the fiscal year 2008."

If they are reducing labor at the engine assembly plant, it stands to reason they will lower production of the cars the engines are going in.

Sounds good, a salesman told me this, and was a bit 50/50 on if it was true. I know many auto manufacturers are cutting back, but did not hear about Nissan, thanks.

Naw, having a limited production cars (such as my old gto and SSR) is a real pain in the ***. I cracked the windshield in my gto, it took 3 weeks to get another one. I needed a small piece of plastic, oh, that was like, $300. My SSR? I had a part on backorder for over a year. Meanwhile, cars that are high production (mustang), you can get all kinds of crazy things for. You can really personalize a mustang with the 987593 vendors who sell parts for it.
Limited production cars are only cool in theory, not practice.

more than cutting production, i pray that they dont cut corners in manufacturing the vehicles. Do you guys remember (i think it was around 1995) when nissan changed the independent suspension in the maxima into a solid beam rear suspension to cut costs? That made the car 100 times cheaper to product but 100 worse as well.....hope the 370 doesnt get that kinda treatment...

PLEASE ! They'll stop production all together before they rewind progress on a constantly moving forward sports car.

Prior to the Viper going into production I visited with the engineers in charge of the exhaust system to discuss material selection. At that meeting I remember asking one of the people present how many Vipers they'd build. The answer was ' we'll put one in every driveway if the demand warrants it.' My guess is that Nissan feels the same about the Z.
