Educate me....cause I am tired!

When I bought my 370z, I got EVERY option that was offered: Sport/touring with nav and 7AT.....out the door tax and all was about $48K. I bought it the day they came out so NO ONE was coming off sticker.

After that, I put over $20K in mods: GTM stage 2 twin turbo, many cooling mods, greddy tiC turbo exhaust, and VIS carbon fiber hood. After MANY Osiris tuning sessions @ Z1, I am putting down about 500 whp and 388 tq. The car runs great!

Now, someone....NICELY....tell me WHAT a Nismo has that I dont have? Except for the body kit (which DOES NOT improve performance), what does it have that is better than a loaded 370z?

I AM NOT HATING ON NISMOS......please dont go there. I think the Nismo looks good to some, its just not what I want.

I have said to some before that I wish the Nismo WAS to the 370 what the ZR1 is to the vette.....but it is not. If it was, I would have one.

So, without hate, someone educate me!

Thanks,
Blue

What is the point of this thread? Another base/touring vs nismo? This really isn't going to go anywhere. If you really want to debate about this just go to the nismo section and you can read about it all day because you will get the same responses here.

steveg78 01-23-2011 04:46 PM

Nismo has different body pieces, a red accented manifold cover and different wheels/tires. ;)

But yeah what's the point of asking the questions?

Just tired of people thinking the Nismo is better.....making sure I didnt miss anything.

junior_jam 01-23-2011 04:47 PM

They have nice stitching on the seats. Seriously, your car is better than a Nismo.

209Z 01-23-2011 04:47 PM

you have a gtm stage 2 turbo and ur complaining on this thread about nismos?

please some educate me because I would be grateful to have all the goodies in your car.

steveg78 01-23-2011 04:48 PM

See above....and the wheels are not much different than my sport rays. .5 inches wider on the rims.......but I am running 295/30s any way.

useless thread. waste of bandwidth.

Who thinks the nismo is better???

Waiz 01-23-2011 05:33 PM

The ZR1 is roughly double the price of a regular corvette. For the price you get near supercar status.

The Nismo can be found for slightly more than a Sport model thus its upgrades are worth the money.

This issue has been seriously beat to death, how about just being happy with what you have OP and calling it a day?

VCuomo 01-23-2011 05:39 PM

Guys, c'mon - the OP isn't really trying to start a debate on whether or not the Nismo is "better". He hears others saying that it is and he's just asking what the differences are between his fully loaded Z and a Nismo.

To the OP - there's not a whole lot of differences, mainly the differences in body panels (maybe some slight extra down force), I think it's rated at slightly higher horsepower, and cosmetic differences. That's about it.

LunaZ 01-23-2011 06:10 PM

The NISMO gets that nifty damper thingy in front of the radiator.
Doesn't the NISMO also come with different dampers and springs?

Ah, I just looked it up here:
2011 Nissan 370Z Coupe | Vehicle Specs | Nissan USA

So based on your question, aside from the NISMO bodywork, you don't have:

- NISMO-tuned suspension with increased spring, dampening and stabilizer rates
- NISMO reinforced 3-point front strut tower brace
- NISMO front and rear performance body dampers
- Wider Wheels: 19" x 9.5" (front) and 19" x 10.5" (rear) 5-spoke NISMO super-lightweight forged alloy wheels by RAYSŪ
- Aerodynamic Aids: Front/Rear: Negative-lift includes unique front fascia with splitter spoiler, aerodynamic side sills, negative-lift rear diffuser and rear spoiler
- NISMO Gauges, Interior Stitching, Plaques, etc...

Disclaimer: the above is a factual answer to the OP's question

who cares what someone else thinks? The next time someone else says "mine is better than yours", just say, "wow your right dude, you win". Get over the ego issues and just enjoy your car. It will set you free.

whoady4shoady 01-23-2011 06:24 PM

OP are you 5?

Nitrouz 01-23-2011 06:37 PM

^you should search some of his past posts in the AT vs. MT debates calling people names......don't be so hard on him. He's at least 6 and a half. He loves drama.

CrownR426 01-23-2011 06:41 PM

Uh nismos just look flashier thats all.
I forgot how much the price difference was i think it's about $7,000.00 difference.
You could've gotten a sports + base + Forced Induction for the price of a nismo and walk it.

I got mine used with 5000 miles on it for 32G. :happydance: It was an older guy who thought the ride was to ruff. I guess it was ruff considering the spacers were still in. :rofl2:

Junior370z 01-23-2011 07:13 PM

Nismo has better stock wheels.

Damn, I hate you! :bowrofl:

PapoZalsa 01-23-2011 07:48 PM

You have a 370Z loaded with GTM Twin Turbo stage 2, that you paid $48K and are asking that question...

BTW, $48K even loaded is a little too much for me.

Anyway 370Z loaded vs 370Z Nismo it comes down what the owner wanted.

I prefer and thats why I decided to go with the Base + Sport Pkg ($32K OTD), then you can go the way you want with the mods.

RCGsupra 01-23-2011 07:50 PM

sounds like the OP is insecure.

theDreamer 01-23-2011 07:57 PM

Oh, one major advantage to your car is the Nismo only comes in manual. :stirthepot:

The nismo is better than all cars. :driving: lol

Cmike2780 01-23-2011 09:19 PM

Slap the Nismo body kit to your ride OP and you got yourself a Super Nismo FTW!

An aftermarket nismo will never be as fast as a factory one. :ugh2:Everyone knows this silly.

I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks a Nismo is better than a TT 370.

If you're heating this type of talk from random people on the street then thats different. They likely know nothing about the car to begin with and you shouldn't let it bother you.

As for the Nismo kit, I was under the impression it did in fact improve downforce which is a performance issue. Maybe not in a straight line but definitely performance related. You didn't list any suspension mods so the Nismo has that on you. :)

Kingbaby 01-23-2011 10:29 PM

07-08 nismo are better

but I would take a +09 nismo 350hp from the factory

Soygen 01-23-2011 10:31 PM

So this dude spends almost 70 grand on his 370Z and then wants someone to pat him on the head and tell him that his car is better than the astronomically cheaper Nismo? Errr, yeah man, your car is faster and has GPS! Congrats?

it's kinda like a natural blonde vs a dyed blonde :D

when you got a 370z nismo, you tell people you got a 370z nismo.

when you sell your car, you have got to say this for sure because a 370z with a nismo body kit is not the same as a factory produced 370z nismo.

optiontrader 01-23-2011 11:52 PM

First off, you're tired - get some rest. You'll probably think about all this differently afterwards.

I had first thought the monstrous rear wing was ridiculous. After seeing two close up in the showroom when I brought my Z and Murano in for service, they're growing on me.

As much as I like the Nismo's minimalist, racing design...

...YOU'VE GOT LEATHER!
