Yep, i've always had manuals too. If I ever get an auto it would be one of those double clutch shift before you blink autos lol. Anyway, to keep this on topic.. I saw a really nice shelby gt500 for 48k

A few things: I live in Chattanooga TN and there are only 2 Nissan dealers here. On the day the 370z came out, there were only 3 of them in the whole town for sale. 2 were 6MTs and I wanted a 7AT. Because they knew they had a corner on the 370z market (at that moment) they were not coming off the sticker.

Most of my sports cars have been manuals through my life, but in 2007 I was hit by a drunk driver and spent 7 months in the hospital. I had severe brain injuries and also was permanantly blinded in one eye. You might be thinking "well you still have one eye" and I do, but the eye I lost was my dominant eye. While I can still see, I can no longer shoot pool, or a gun accurately. For THIS REASON, I decided an auto might be better for now.

I am not bragging on my car or dissing the Nismo. Money is not an issue for me and if I wanted a Nismo, I would just go buy one (or a GTR for that matter). The truth is, I LIKE THE 370! I personally dont like body kits and thats what the Nismo looks like to me. If I were tracking my car I might....MIGHT...consider aero enhancements, but I am not. I plan on running a few 1/4 miles and local driving and thats it.

So, I have what I have and you have what you have....end of story.

I dont really have depth perception issues but my periphial vision is not that great. I dont drive as much as I once did and I dont drive at night (oncoming cars headlights nearly blind me).

My judgement may be off a little as my brain is still adjusting to using my non dominant eye. I am actually more cautious now because I sense/know my limitations.

Someone I know has had one eye her entire life and has held a driver's license for over 30 years.

You don't absolutely need depth perception to judge distance in a vehicle. Relative sizing is a good indicator, as is the shine of your headlights.

Clearly one advantage is the discounts dealers are giving on Nismo. I got mine for $36K. You really spent $68K on your standard 370Z? You could have bought a nice low mile used turbo Porsche for that! Nismo is a great deal! Special edition cars like the Nismo are always going to be a better deal after they have been on the market a couple years. Dealers have a ton of profit built into them and they can always hack off thousands which is what I did when I went shopping for a new 2010 on New Years Eve. Went to several dealers and it was not long before we were talking under invoice pricing for the Nismo at three places.

Other advantages beyond pricing is fact that Nismo engineers and developers actually tested all the upgraded components together on the car and the factory warranties all these parts no questions asked. In my opinion they did an outstanding job and the Nismo is far better enthusiasts sports car than the base 370Z with sport package. Bolting on lots of after market crapola is not something I'm interested in. Resale of aftermarket modded cars is terrible. You will very soon have a $68K car that is worth what maybe $25K? Suspect my stock Nismo would sell for more used in a few years than a heavily aftermarket tainted car.

From what I see even with bolt on intakes and exhaust systems base cars dont make as much hp as a stock Nismo. It takes cracking into ECU tuning by tuner who really knows what they are doing. From what I see not many of those guys are cracking the 370 Z code with success to get power Nismo engineers did.

Nismo is more like Grand Sport version of standard Corvette. Better suspension, upgraded power and nicer body work. But a hell of a lot less expensive. I'm not a big forced induction fan either. I think Nsmo is perfect balance of power and handling.

I shopped a lot and there isnt anything in the $36K range that offers as much value as a Nismo edition 370Z.

From my opinion. base 370Z is for people who really dont appreciate a true sports car. More of a car that one would want automatic transmission and neon lights to criuse the mall parking lots for teenagers. Nismo is more of a true sports car enthusiasts vehicle. A more mature buyers car. Its sort of the anti-ricer 370Z. Base 370Z just begs to be all riced up.

didnt you also say in some other thread that you think there is some "unpublished" work on the nismo engine?! A base or sport is a better start point for the true enuthusiast...wow there is allot of Nismo snobbery going around lately

Wow, guys C'mon. The Z, base or Nismo, is still a Z! Yes, sorry, you can still rice up a Nismo even if you think it's impossible (especially since you own one)
The 370Z is a great little sports car no matter how much you paid for it and no matter how much 10s of thousands of dollars you do or don't put into it.

Ok....I am trying not to get in fights...but...you really are one of the bigger idiots on this forum or you cant read. I DONT HAVE A BASE......The opening article (as well as my sig tag) CLEARLY states what my car is and has.

FYI....IDIOT.....had the Nismo come out THE DAY THE 370 was released YOU WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN A DISCOUNT. If you lived in a smaller town THE DAY THE 370 came out and there were only 3 TOTAL in the town.....YOU WOULDNT HAVE GOT A DISCOUNT.

I DIDNT PAY 68K FOR MY CAR thats what I have in it. I didnt want a Nismo, Porsche, OR ANYTHING ELSE......I LIKE THE 370! I was one of the early adopters on the GTM TT kit and it cost a little more at the very beginning.
ALSO, IF YOU LOOK IN MY PICTURES YOU WILL SEE I ALREADY HAD A PORSCHE 930, and several vettes, etc....

For the record, I think the Nismo looks "riced out" more than any other style 370. Its NOT FASTER and if you look at 1/4 mile times and track times you will see its ACTUALLY SLOWER.

In closing, I PAID CASH FOR MY 370 AND DONT OWE A PENNY ON IT OR THE MODS I HAVE DONE. I doubt you can say the same.

In those conditions I think ur right, only 3 cars in town and just one AT, dealer could have asked for whatever they wanted. Don't take this the wrong way and Im sorry to hear what happened to u (fvckng drunl drivers), but are u not afraid taking that TT down the dragstrip with ur condition? I would be LOL

**queue star trek the next generation theme** I searched for hours on the internet and through some connections I have with Nissan, I came to find out, that the Nismo was actually hand built in a germ free enviorment by Unicorns in Atlantis...then they slaughter these same Unicorns and use thier blood as the "break in" Oil...and THIS accounts for the extra 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 extra rear wheel horsepowersssss

Well my 40th Anniversary is my beater car, My Bugatti is my average car, and my ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD U.F.O. is my weekend warrior why? cause Im baller like that LOL

and I don't owe a penny on any of them! In fact the dealerships are paying me to keep driving there cars =)
