New member wannabe maybe??
Hi folks, I have not yet purchased my 370, but am hoping to in the next few days or so......or at least I WAS gonna purchase one........I have read the "Oil temp issue" thread, and am getting a little worried about what I might be in for. I live in Vegas, and you all know how crazy hot it gets here!! I kinda lost my head of steam on my purchase. I am lookin at a very low mileage '09 base, with an automatic. Anyway I was hopig for some input and opinion.
PS- I wont be tracking the car but I do get aggressive here and there! Grazie!! Rob |

I live in Vegas also and bought mine in May of 2010. I did not have any issues with the oil temp last summer. With that being said, I don't drive it too far and it is not my daily driver.

If you beat the hell out of the car your oil will get hotter than most would hope for so you buy a 500 dollar oil cooler and the problem is
Solved. End of story.

I don't think the oil temp issues are as bad as most believe them to be. Most cars will see temps of 240 or so on a fairly regular basis. We are just more aware because of the gauge and Limp mode.

I don't live in Vegas or anything, but it does get hot and humid in the WMA in the summer. I have only once had my oil temp go above 220 and it got to 225. I wouldn't worry about the car overheating unless you constantly have the RPMs up for several minutes.

Don't let the oil temp deter you from buying a Z - it's just not a valid reason to not buy one. If you find that your oil temps are regularly reaching 250 or more after purchasing a Z, then consider installing an oil cooler.

Thanks guys! I feel better I am gonna look at the DIY cooler just to see what I might be into if things get that way. Im a DIY guy, so the install shud be no sweat. I generally dont get very crazy in my cars, and when I do, its not for extended periods of time.
I'll post some pics if all goes well! Thanks again!! Rob Last edited by bigrob126; 01-23-2011 at 06:48 PM. |

I think an oil-temp gauge was an unfortunate addition to the 370Z. A G-meter would have been more practical and less unnerving.
I have seen posts on here about people whining about 210* oil temps because of all this. With a good synthetic, as long as you don't hit limp mode, you're fine. If you find yourself running into limp-mode a few times, then it's time to re-consider options. |
