700 miles only and it already got trashed.

CBRich 01-17-2011 11:30 AM

Oooh! I got this one! Was the VSA on?

Dembflyr 01-17-2011 11:31 AM

Damn. Not good. Hope you are ok.

SE 01-17-2011 11:33 AM

Ouch how did that happen?

toxik 01-17-2011 11:33 AM

sucks to hear man, what happened?

christian370z 01-17-2011 11:34 AM

That really blows, I hurt just looking at the pictures. :(

Vegitto-kun 01-17-2011 11:38 AM

Need to clarify something, this is not MY car my car is perfectly fine.

this had about 700 miles on it, I don't know the full story but judging from the damage it wasn't going slow + guy didn't want a new Z but a AWD so I guess he got suprised by RWD.

toxik 01-17-2011 11:39 AM

edit, nm

jpmotor 01-17-2011 11:40 AM

dibs on the brakes...

jk

Vegitto-kun 01-17-2011 11:45 AM

The guy that does the work and my Z and the GT-R is going over there to buy it for spare parts.

Dembflyr 01-17-2011 12:28 PM

Ha ha. I guess I need to read better. It's still too bad that another Z got trashed and I still hope the driver is ok. :D

VDC you mean?

SPOHN 01-17-2011 01:28 PM

So sad. I'm going to go cry now.

Was about to ask "wtf is VSA?"

700 miles, looks like it had an aftermarket exhaust too, so dunno about the whole 'owner didn't want it'. I don't know a single person who would invest more money into something they don't want.

Still, as long as the driver is alright, guess it turned out as well as it could have...?

younter 01-17-2011 01:48 PM

looks like the stock exhaust to me.

I know the owner from here. VDC was on and it was aquaplanning/ice that did this so its not his fault.

such a shame I was supposed to ask him to let me try out the MT again :roflpuke2:.

He now ordered a audi S3

shame and it hurts to see a Z die.

ZedZed 01-17-2011 02:20 PM

It's my car.

The car aqua planned and did a 180° spin. VDC was on but couldn't save me as I was doing 110KPH (not MPH but KPH). I released the accelerator when seeing the water on the dual carriageway but the back came out and there was nothing I could do to keep it from spinning. I hit the crash barrier and then a lamp post. When I exited the car, it was on the front wheels on top of the crash barrier.

I'm not the sort to drive crazy or show off on the roads and I still can't explain why this happened to me. It was +5° when I was driving and the conditions were alright. VDC was on as I never turned it off.

I would like to point out that the car had previously fishtailed when I pressed lightly on the accelerator on a damp road surface but the VDC kicked in and managed to put the car straight.

I was alone in the car and even though I thought I was going to die the airbags saved me and I wasn't hurt at all apart from a light burn on the hand from the airbag depleting. I didn't hit anyone else, thank god!

I am fully insured and will be getting myself an Audi A3 S line instead of another Z. Once bitten, twice shy as they say.

By the way, thanks buddy, cause I didn't have pictures taken of the wreck, I'll keep them.

semtex 01-17-2011 02:25 PM

Glad you weren't hurt, and sorry for the loss.

SPOHN 01-17-2011 02:26 PM

Can't go wrong with a Audi

Do want pics of the Audi when you get it

ZedZed 01-17-2011 02:34 PM

Thanks guys, took me a few days and bad nights sleep to get over it but now I can actually laugh about my near death experience.

I'd just like to point out that every time i saw a crashed Z on these forums I was under the impression that the drivers had to have been driving recklessly but I learned the hard way that this isn't necessarily true.

I don't want to sound retarded but just be careful when driving this car guys.

I'll try to take pics before something happens to it :bowrofl:. Funny thing is I never had time to take pictures of the Z before the crash, the ones taken by Vegitto will have to do i guess :ugh2:

Vegitto-kun 01-17-2011 03:06 PM

don't worry il steal the brakes of your Z and put them on mine. since my brake pads are starting to wear out :roflpuke2:

Sorry to hear, but I am glad you're alright. Definitely share the Audi with us as soon as you get it.

Still pretty cold for Summer tires. Combining the standing water with the reduced traction was the cause. Your new Audi should come with all seasons and of course AWD so you'll be better off in the Winter but you still have to watch out for ice and really large puddles, I've seen even AWD cars go for a spin at speed before.

Glad your weren't hurt, congrats on the new A3

Vegitto-kun 01-17-2011 03:51 PM

The odd thing is I have driven with my Z at lower temperatures than that while it was storming extremely hard it never budged. hell I drove it around when it was freezing for two days.

Just be careful. Even on clear pavement you've got a lot less grip at 40F (4C) than you do at 70F (21C). I came pretty close to taking out a street sign myself by driving to the limit of grip that I thought I had that wasn't actually there.

If you see a large amount of standing water coming at speed, brake as hard as you can before you get there and then let off the brakes before you hit the water.

CATCHINZZZS 01-17-2011 05:07 PM

would like the seats. Didnt know they had that package.......Overall this sucks on anyone..

vividracing 01-17-2011 10:12 PM

it just brought a tear to my eye. poor Z...

ZedZed 01-18-2011 02:21 AM

Thanks a lot everyone for the kind words. I must admit that I wasn't going to advertise the fact that I crashed out of sheer embarassement.

I think you're absolutely right ChrisSlicks, I should have braked when I saw the water but instead I released the gas pedal thinking it would be enough and I'd just go straight on.

runner42 02-15-2011 10:27 AM

I guess you had the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires. I have those for the fourth season on my Audi A5 and I can confirm that +5°C is way too low temperature to drive them safely. As good as they are in warm weather, there is something like +8°C barrier, when colder lost of traction will occur easily.
I know my new 40th is coming with RE050As in a few days and I've promised myself not to take it out until temperatures will be +15°C.

Anyway, Audi also deliver cars with summer RE050A set, so stay alert.

shadoquad 02-15-2011 10:29 AM

Your d1ck Z wrecked?

say that aloud for full effect, but not around mixed company.
