370Z in Car & Driver Comparo
This month's C&D has the Z finishing on top over BMW 135i, Rx-8 and Solstice
Of note was statement that Mustang wasn't interested in reponding to the invite. It also looks like the Z would outperform the 335i as well since it has the same power plant at the 135i except that it is heavier. It tops boxster and honda's s2000 so what is out there in its class that can outperform it? Camarro? |

Not really comparable when it comes to price, though. |

New base C6 at dealer in today's paper in Cincinnati for $43,800. That's not too far from sticker on a Z with sport/touring and nav. I looked at the Vette and it just didn't get me excited. If I wanted one I'd get a lightly used '08' with the Z51 package.

I've had 2 C6's Vettes, an 06 which was a lemon and GM bought back and a really problematic 07 that I traded in. They are very low quality, yes you can get them new low 40's base w z51, yes they DO outperform the Z on the track and no, it's not hard to get the power out of them, unless of course you can't heel toe, lol...

I think on the skidpad, the better rubber you have on the car, the better the results? I don't know what kind of rubber comes stock on a new GT but it must be pretty sticky! |

As for rubber, it seems almost all new performance cars are coming with the same Bridgestones we have. I know in the comparison between the 370, RX8, 135i, and Solstice...all but one (I think the 135?) were using the exact same tires. THAT surprised me, considering how I figured the solstice would do MUCH better than it did! |
