Good car..... for a 16 yr old???

I did not get in any accidents or get any tickets in my first car. It was a 1978 Dodge Diplomat. Take that for what it's worth.

A Get a 40th. So when you wreck it there will be 999 and my resale value will go up lol. But nah get one. My first motorcycle was a 600 and everyone zaid that it was too much for me.. but it wasn't and was perfet for me.. it sounds like you won't appreciate it anyways as I'm pretty sure your dad is buying it for you. Why don't you ask for a porsche like his?

I was 16 once and I would have said F U to anyone who said I couldn't handle a 370Z. I am 30 now, and I would not get my 16 year old a 370Z. I only say that because I know how I was at that age, and I surely would have gotten into trouble. But that should not reflect on you, I don't know anything about you. But from what I have seen growing up with kids and fast cars up until now, I would say no. But if you think you are a responsible driver then go for it, there are responsible teen drivers out there. Good luck.

Another thing to consider is, even if you are a good safe driver, you're going to be parking the car in the school parking lot around a whole slew of other noob drivers. Theres no garuntee even if you drive perfectly that some other kid isn't going to accidentally hit your parked car.

My personal opinion is that no new driver should ever start on a new car. Find a beater to learn on, borrow your Dad's car for dates. I truly believe when you learn on a beater and finally get something nice the appreciation factor for the new vehicle more than doubles. I started off on an '87 Ford Taurus Station wagon, while I hated it at the time, looking back I wouldn't have changed a thing.

this is true, it's not all about being able to handle a car... it is all about experience. not everything about driving can be taught. and since teens are stubborn by nature, they learn everything from mistakes. i bet anyone who got a 370z as their first car has their rims curb-rashed to death lol.

it depends on person to person. even so I wouldn't of been able to get a car at 16 since the minimum age here is 18.

If I had one when I was 16 I wouldn't of wrecked it.

All I was trying to point out was that even if the op drove perfectly he will be parking his car in a high risk area frequently. At my school there were two types of cars, beaters like mine and the cars mommy and daddy bought for their kid. More often than not the cars involved in the accidents at school were bought by mommy and daddy. Those of us that bought our own cars, the beaters, had a larger personal investment and did our best to keep the car operating as long/best as possible.

yes but those cars that got in a accident probably were owned by kids who like to DURIFTO AND BE FAST & FURIOUS.

I learned on a Honda Accord (160 hp) at age 15, then drove a V6 Camry (200hp) at age 18-20, now I drive the 370z (332 hp) at age 21. I moved up slowly through the hp range, and I'm still learning to drive my Z.

I consider myself to be pretty mature and responsible, but when you're that young, there's no doubt that you'll get in trouble with the 370z because you'll have the urge to drive fast. I got a ticket a month after I got my license, and I've learned my lesson. You'll want to floor it when Mustangs/Camaros/whatever pull up next to you at a red light and rev their engine. It's hard to say what one accident can do to you because you're going from 140hp to 332hp, which is a huge leap.

My recommendation is that you get a Genesis 2.0T/Civic Si/328i coupe, those are around 200 horse power and great looking cars. I personally think you're more concerned with the look of the car than the performance/handling.

No matter what car you get, drive responsibly and use your head.

those depend on your own mental state.

Neither have I, I'm working too hard to pay for the the car to do stupid things with it. I agree that it does depend on the person, but when people get their first car, most of the time, they get a bit too excited.
