Voltage Meter
Hi guys,
Not sure if this is the right section but I need to ask something that has been bothering me. My Z's voltage meter sometimes reads 14V and then it drops to 13V, stays there for quite some time, then later on climbs back to 14V... Is it normal that it sometimes reads 13V and other times 14V..?? Do you guys have it steady at 14V all the time..?? I don't have any aftermarket audio or electronics on the car if it helps.. Thank you in advance for your help.. |
Normal!

lol sometimes it drops to 11ish and when I come back later its abit past 14
never really understood it :p |
mine tends to stay around 14 but it is perfectly normal to see some fluctuation
|
14v is 'charging' 11v is under load, 12 v is the 'nominal' voltage....
|
OK, so nothing to worry about.. I've never seen the voltage go below 13V on my Z... Always between 13V and 14V.. Sometimes a little over 14V..
Thanks for your replies.. |
For my car,if i did not start for a week,it will goes to 14.2V,dropping back to 13V after a few minutes.

It's all good. If the Alternator is running and working properly it will maintain an above 12v current to the system. If the car is ON but not with the engine running, the load may drop the voltage below 12v. This is normal. With the engine running, the voltage regulator will ensure the battery remains charged and full by 'regulating' the output from the alternator.

Mine stays above 12 but vacillates between 12-14

Normal, mine is always in 14V, I was used to 12V in my other cars, even the 350Z I think.
