Trading Z to Evo

I have come to a conclusion that I do not need a 370Z right now...
I'm only 21 years old and I noticed even maintaing this car takes a lot of money! :ugh2: I think I got myself into a big mistake lol... All those tickets made me broke. :confused:As a college student with a part-time job I was a zomebie at times. I am going to a dealership and see my options and if I can test drive of course! :stirthepot:
How much would I be losing if I trade in my 370z?
I have 2009 Nissan 370z Base + Sports with Stillen Cat Back Exhaust, Stillen HFC, Stillen CAI, UpRev Tune.

About 27,300 miles and no accidents.

I havent heard alot of good things about the new Evos.

only things I remember is shitty *** gearbox and extremely mod unfriendly.

maintaining costs alot of money? its like what? a oil change once or twice a year?

the tickets problem isn't the car but you.

Tires, Oil changes, Cleaning, Gas, Driving, Traffic, Weather Conditions.
Getting yelled at by all my friends and family for being shelfish and getting a 2 seater. :shakes head:

I am confused here. The 370Z has a 5/60 powertrain and 3/36 warranty, and you shouldn't be outside either of those. Oil/brakes/tires won't be any cheaper than on the EVO.

I was broke as hell in college and rolled an old WS6, and yeah, THAT was a PITA when it broke. No warranty, but with a warranty it sounds like you have it made?

The thing I would worry with (depending on your downpayment) is being upside down in trade possibly?

Oil only needs to be changed every 6K miles or so if you use a good synthetic. It only takes an hour or two of your time and about $80 even if you use some of the more expensive oil/filter combos out there.

The Evo will get worse mileage.

Weather conditions, the Evo will do better with AWD.

Getting yelled at by friends and family for spending your money how you want can be cured by telling them to shove it and finding new friends/setting limits with your family.

Cleaning? I don't understand this cost or how it would differ between a Z and an EVO. Same with traffic.

I honestly think this is a bad decision. If you're trying to save some money, which i think you are, trading in a car is most definitly NOT a good way. unless, ofcourse its a sh!tty car. You're gonna lose money trading in your car no matter how you look at it. And what high cost maintainance are you talking about? Last time I checked 370z is a japanese car, not a european. And ticket is all your fault....hands down, not your 370.

Vegitto-kun 01-08-2011 03:17 AM

tires will be the same on the evo, oil changes same on evo, cleaning same on evo, gas pretty much the same, driving...the same except for AWD, traffic its gonna be the same its not like the evo will suddenly make driving shitloads easier. weather yeah if its snowing.

I think the only problem you have is peer pressure of your friends whining and benig jealous.

I agree with all thats been said above. Trading it in would not be a good move

Kenny 01-08-2011 03:22 AM

yea, you should totally get the new Evo.

It will change your life. The 370Z's high cost of maintenance will be a thing of the past.

Good luck!

Bye.

if I remember right, I read that even getting drop in airfilters can destroy the MAF(?) sensors. also about how shitty the gearbox and that it cant handle any extra power

My friend just picked up a nice 500+awhp EVO. Had another friend with a low 12-second EVO8 a few years back. Know another girl with a stock EVO8. All drive/drove aggressively and never had any issues.

However, we are talking about 2 cars under warranty. Maintenance should be the only expense, and that is about equal.

Here is another topic about the evo

http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...g-evo10mr.html

dont see many awesome good things about it.

older evos maybe but the new one.

CrownR426 01-08-2011 03:35 AM

Evo 10's quicker correct?

Vegitto-kun 01-08-2011 03:42 AM

been reading around and seems the 0-60 is around 4.9.

370 is like 5.0-5.2. not that much faster.

also you talked about the cost of the tickets you get, good job getting a "quicker" car then.

So this is really about being bored with yoru current ride and wanting a car that you think you can make faster than your current ride without much cash out-lay, and all the other stuff is what you are telling the rational side of your brain and others to convince you/them of the responsibility of this purchase.

Just reading between the lines.

The EVO10 is supposedly faster than the EVO8, but both are pretty slow unless from a dig or modded.

CrownR426 01-08-2011 03:55 AM

Hmm why do people get the GSR?
I thought the MR was best?
