Alex, this is a great thread and your opinions seem very objective - a tough thing to achieve when talking about a car, I think!

I always enjoy hearing what other forum members had before their Z and what they liked about them, or what they are trading their Z for, for that matter! I just like learning about different cars.

I tend to be in a 2-3 year car cycle, so I'm sure I'll be looking at Porsches, GT-Rs, and M3's within a few years, and will probably have to revisit this thread!

BTW, loved the Oakley's analogy - very descriptive!

That was one of the main reasons I bought another Z when it was time to upgrade...

this is misleadng info as well. I know the dealership charges upwards of $6k for a brake job. But who goes to the dealership for these things anyways?

I've only had to change my front pads after track days. $400.

Guys, I have been thinking of trading my beloved 2015 Z in for a GTR, but after reading this thread I am again rethinking what I should do.

I am in Australia, and I can pick up a used GTR, either 08, 09 or 10 model for around $85-100K.

Or should I just spend $25K or so on building my Z into TT? How much would it cost to make the Z as fast and as reliable as a GTR?

I love my Z, but I wouldn't mind the pedigree of the GTR. It would be one of my Ultimate dream cars.

I would consider making my Z into a TT, but how much does it need to be pushed to get it at GTR level of speed? How reliable is it going to be? It will be my daily driver and I will also track it atleast a few times a year.

Should I worry about maintaining such a Z, or should I just get a GTR. But also, I must consider insurance for the GTR, and servicing costs. Does this sound about rite for GTR service costs:

Car Servicing Cost & Price Guide for a Nissan R35 GT-R 3.8 - carservice.com.au

Oh I know the OP said he didn't like being looked at when he picks his nose in a GTR, but me I wouldn't mind the attention lol.

Cool story bro...

I would trade my Z on a GTR any day of the week and I'm sure a lot of the guys on here would also.

Thanks for living my dream. :-P

I am in Markham(toronto) and the 370 is already too fast for our street(traffic everywhere). would love a GTR but 1. i cant afford it. 2. nowhere to use its potential except track which i have never been to. lol
