I didn't insinuate that becoming an adult meant popping out a fresh unit. I meant to insinuate that adults make decisions such as, "I'm having a child, perhaps I should drive transportation that is more practical and suitable to the task of parenthood."

I'm not saying that he has to trade in his sports car or his balls or whatever. I'm just saying that mature individuals often make such decisions when presented with such situations.

Gotcha. I understand what you mean and agree, now. I thought you were insinuating that once you "reach adulthood" you "must" have a child, or that to "be an adult" you must desire/have a child. I misunderstood.

What are balls fetching these days on a trade-in?

Kids are expensive, and when they happen, society frowns on making them take a back seat to things that were around before them. Like your car, etc.

"something's gotta give", so to speak.

OP- For all the time and money you have already invested into the Z I think it would be foolish to sell it. You'll recoup the money from the sale. I'd keep the Z, drive it on the weekends and hold onto it. I would find a DD, which will cost you just about as much as you will lose if you sell the Z anyway.

maybe that's they say marriage is like a romance where the hero dies in the first chapter -- and you are still alive

the notion that your life ends when you get married or have kids or w/e is propagated by pussy-whipped husbands and dads who throw out everything and every activity they enjoy because they get married or have a kid and are at the mercy of their wife and kids. It doesn't have to be like that if you just grow a pair of balls. Obviously there is a balance between a healthy relationship with ones family and their own independence, but the idea that that you have to ditch your car or whatever hobbies you have is ridiculous.

the guy that owns the shop that did the alarm install on my 370z has a bunch of corvettes and races and all that.. He was probably in his late 50's. he said that he and his wife chose cars over having children, and as much as he loves cars, he thinks deep down he made the wrong decision.

just some perspective...

I think that liking cars and wanting to buy a lot of 'toys' is no reason not to get married and have kids. I mean, if deep down its someting you really don't want (marriage/children) then thats one thing, but if its because you are scarred that you wont be able to buy yourself as much stuff or have 'freedom' then i think thats silly. you just need to take charge of your relationship from the begining and not become complacent and always say 'OK whatever you want honey.' if you're not confident in your ability to do that then i guess its your loss. Theres such a thing as balance.

Theres plenty of guys on here with wives/kids. Yea, there some that come on to complain about the mod their wife wont let them buy or that they have to sell their car or whatever. But then there are guys like Kenchan and some others who have wives/kids and you don't hear them complaining. I think because they are strong willed people that know what they want and make that a reality. too many guys are too lazy to balance out their lives so they just settle for whatever happens. they know they aren't capable of having a woman/family AND their hobbies so they say either 'alright forget cars/hobbies/sports/etc i have a family.... or they say 'alright forget women and family, i want cars/hobbies/sports etc.
