I'm not my response will help directly, but my rates are related to the annual miles I drive and the number of cars I have. Therefore, the Z is a "pleasure vehicle" and rates are fairly low. In my case, it would not make sense to remove insureance if I parked it during the winter.

I'd make sure you are still covered for comprehensive, just in case the car gets damaged in storage.

Put some snows on that Camry - they are like tanks in the snow with the right tires!

I keep mine on. The big hassle is because of the RMV, I would have to deregister the car, turn in the plates, and then re-register in the spring, get new plates etc. You can certainly save a few dollars if you own the car outright, however if you have a loan on the vehicle you probably aren't allowed to remove comprehensive insurance. I also wouldn't remove the insurance unless the facility (or your home owners) insurance covers damage to the vehicle.

You can talk to your bank to tell them you will not drive the car for the Winter and the car will be in storage in your garage, and see if they allow you to modify your insurance.

If your bank allows it you can increase your deductible and some banks will let you just have theft and fire for the car for those months. I did that when I went overseas but depends of the bank or FCU.

Again it mostly depends if your bank will allow that.

Also, if you have a primary beater, you can get your Z as a pleasure vehicle on your insurance if you drive less than 6500 a year. I have a 94 HONDA CIVIC FOH DOH. Looks like crap, but machanically sound and gets me 40 MPG. I drive it to and from work most days and the Z on the weekend/special occasions. Also, it makes the Z fell like a Lambo when I drive it...haha

Im paying the usual leisure car insurance while garaged for winter. Never know when weather suddenly clears up and roads washed with rain.

I have USAA insurance and I can go online and put my car in storage and take it out of storage with the click of a mouse

So to answer your question, yes I put my car in storage mode for the winter

I save 125 a month. Dec-Feb It was 50deg today and I got the itch to take it out.. but to drive it 1-2 times a month its just not worth it.

I see decent savings just by the decreased mileage.

I normally call my state farm agent around the end of November and tell them Im done driving it for the year until spring time March/April and they suspend my coverage for those months... The car is still covered with a form of storage insurance..

I plan on keeping insurance year-round. PLeasure insurance costs more here, so just regular.

I am paying $33 bucks a month for parking insurance (fire and theft) november 1 - april 31. I just had to get it approved from the bank, all they asked for was my storage receipt or proof of storage if you have a garage (which I don't).
