Should We Make a Petition?
I love the 370z and its a blast to drive but the thing thats a little upsetting is that even with VDC "turned off" there's still another underlying system that can only be removed by disconnecting an actual physical connection or so I hear.
Despite whatever safety these systems promote, I really have a hard time taking Nissan seriously when they call this a sports car when you can't even completely remove traction control and stability control. Its outrageous! If I want to drive my car with as few nannies as possible, I certainly should be able to without losing brake light function! So my question to everyone is this sort of implementation of a true "VDC off" button possible and something you all want? I for one feel like Nissan has a permanent hold on he "leash" to my car....

its all off when you turn it off. you can get ice mode with the abs, but thats got nothing to do with TCS and VDC

I believe its the stability control. I know that there's a fuse that you can remove to fix this but it will leave both VDC and Stability and everything else off along with the parking brake if you have an AT.
I'm mentioning this to say that it would be possible to turn it off. maybe one of the vendors could put out a bypass that links the VDC off button to the stability and other limiters? |

the VDC still remains on by, i think 25% when u press the button. I still had it come on a few times at the track, so i pulled the harness out. Not only does it not come on, but i found it gives abit of low end back as well.

Yes, I plan on tracking my car this coming Spring and I think its ridiculous for us to have to pull ANYTHING to remove all the nannies on the car. I'm actually interested in a vendor offering another button that would remove all the controls on the vehicle, but did you not lose brake lights at all?

Being someone who has tracked the car and pushed it to te point of spinning and near spinning many times. The VDC and other nannies do not interupt your driving at the track enough to warrant pulling anything. Now the ice mode issue or ABS needs some adjustment. Nothing like running into a 70mph turn at 115mph late braking to have the brakes give you the preverbal finger... When I installed my BBK it got worse and I had to change my rear brake pads to fight the problem another factor I found played a large roll in that was road and track surface. If it was dusty or not grippy the rear wheels locked up causing ice mode.
On a side note... If you are still getting the problems with the stability system with everything turned off I would take another look at your driving style and ur turn in markers... You may be experiencing EAD "early apex disease" causing too much body roll low corner speed and a whole slew of other proplems.

Ditto. Off is off. The only fuse you can pull is the stop lamp fuse which will let you do standstill brake hold burnouts or left foot brake while standing on the throttle. You can disconnect ABS if you want, but I don't know a single exotic car that lets you turn off ABS at will. You guys worry about things that don't even exist.
VDC Off and nothing helping me but myself:

Maybe not exotic but dodge does you just need to get a power wagon anyway back to the topic in question, I have not gotten my car on a track yet since it's winter but if I turn VDC off in the snow it feels just like every other rear wheel drive car I've ever had. I can feel it start to get loose on hills/ snowy roads if it's off and I can easily spin it around with no question from the car. If it's still on it's not doing much

As others have said, off is off, I've spun my car enough times to know it. The traction control light can still start flashing with the VDC off, however, this is NOT the traction or stability control cutting in. It is the "electronic differential" which uses the brakes to limit wheel spin that the limited slip cannot control.
