Love my new Z, Chevron or Shell?
Hi everyone, Former BMW owner here, now New 370z sport pkg owner here lolz. Very impressed by Nissans recent upgrades in quality in their cars thanks to the CEO and thought i'd dabble. Welp, 600 miles on my new baby, and did a 0 - 60 in exactly 5 seconds flat today bone stock on an uphill onramp-not even breaking 5k rpm!- for quick shift/rev break in. I was very impressed by this because the main powerband/max torque is between 5-6k rpm so 5 sec flat with 280-300hp and 220-250 torque aint bad!. Handles as good as my former 135i, yet just a tad heavier feel, but with better grip it seems. 1G on the skidpad is very impressive. 135i has a bit more torque but the Z seems to pull even harder once you get the rpms up there above 4k. Lovin this amazing sports car! Its really sad how much other sports car companies overcharge for performance, once you get in a Z you realize how badly porche and BMW and others are ripping you off all in the name of whats on the logo...
Anyways, just wondering which mothers milk is best, I know there are a couple good top teir but im still up in the air. |
i use shell, its close to my house and i get 93 here in NJ

Cali, (land of the tree hugging liberals) dont have no 93 for me. at least I havent seen a gas station with 93 in the bay area as of yet. all i got is 91 and terribad nastyness roads to drive on. Half the time I cant tell weather im driving on a lava bed or actual roads. Half the time I'd like to grab a gun and march up to the capital and demand to know wtf they are using the 40k + in taxes they get from me every year for. Cause it obviously not going to the **** roads.

I use the below in the order listed:
Mobil Shell Cheveron Mobil is close to the house, Shell on the way to work.... And, I think the Z handles MUCH better than the 135i. I had high hopes for the 1 M coupe, but think BMW failed with that.... I think a suspension tweaked Z will hang with or flat out beat even the 1M coupe... I LOVE my Z and have no regrets about picking her up. Have you seen the spoof with Hitler talking about the 1 M Coupe? HILARIOUS!! |
okay thanks all for the input, im gonna stick with chev and shell and check for the 93... dont have mobil in cali.. any opinions of 76?

And yes, I am puzzled by your sprint --- though if real, it would be good news to all of us. |
its all in how you time your shifts. If you time them perfectly you can achieve what most drivers do not. I also have the speedy shifting paddle shift auto, which shifts much faster than manual, this contributed to the 5 sec. My friend has a 370z in his garage as well and reguarly gets 4.2 - 4.5 not even going over 6k RPM with his stillen intake modded paddle shift auto. . He also did an ECU upgrade and it shifts faster than stock. Its like lightening quick. ALso, the Auto gear ratio's are much better than the manual. Much lower 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear than the manual version of the Z. Faster shifting and lower gearing = better acceleration.
Gear Ratios Z (Manual) 1st 3.794 2nd 2.324 3rd 1.624 4th 1.271 5th 1.000 6th 0.794 Reverse 3.446 Final Drive 3.692 Gear Ratios Z (Automatic) 1st 4.924 2nd 3.194 3rd 2.043 4th 1.412 5th 1.000 6th 0.862 7th 0.771 Reverse 3.972 Final Drive 3.357 I dont think most people realize that 0 - 60 times and general car performance overall, has just as much to do with who is sitting behind the wheel, as it does with whats under the hood. |
I wouldnt use shell if i were u guys..my friend and his wife used shell for their GTR and CUBE..after a couple of months both of their car just die out and had to be taken to nissan to empty out shell's gas..the nissan tech said there's something in shell's gas that fxxk up the engine..So all i put is Chevron in my Z..

V-power.,shell.

Have been using chevron my whole life. Been having issues with the gas light and accuracy. Since switching to shell, its more accurate. I am gonna try 76 a few fillups later.

My father does support for programmable logic controllers and had a support call from a guy that did independent gasoline testing at a company that I forgot the name of. He said that they found shell gas to be the best. For whats its worth, thought I would add that input.
First post, bla. Should have a Z in 8 or so months. |
Years ago, I took auto shop and had access to a bead blaster. I bead blasted my spark plugs, then again after using union 76 for six weeks. The spark plugs still looked newish. I used Shell one time and my spark plugs looked like they had been covered with a milk white, baked on substance. Bead blasted them and never used Shell again.:xmas1:
