Wrecked...

Just got in a wreck today. Pretty DANG shocked it happened. Anyways. Can someone give me an estimate of repair costs. Nothing really specific but a price range. Its a 2010 Fully loaded 7 speed.

k20z3 12-22-2010 05:25 PM

oh **** sorry to hear man!

ChrisSlicks 12-22-2010 05:29 PM

$10K minimum at a guess, it's pretty hard to tell everything that is damaged by looking at a photo.

Have insurance?

RCZ 12-22-2010 05:29 PM

Damn....nuts. I'm sorry you have to go through this buddy.

shoopajae10 12-22-2010 05:29 PM

Glad you're ok. Howd it happen??

Yea i have insurance and my cost is about to skyrocket.

chuckd05 12-22-2010 05:34 PM

wow, that stinks..

way too many 370z's involved in accidents... a large percentage it seems...

You are going to need a hood, front cover, all misc hardware behind the cover, most likely both fenders, prob both headlights and the housing as it most likely cracked, and the entire frond end resprayed...

Id guess anywhere from 8,000-12,000 dollars.... thats a pretty decent hit right there... If you know a good shop and have a relationship with them it could turn out with you having some extra money to play with BUT that doesnt mean cheap out and go to the lowest bidder... make sure you pick a shop that is going to fix it the right way, the first time.

did you rear end someone ?

Rui Z 12-22-2010 05:37 PM

I got into an accident in the Z similar to you but with no structural damage (you can go look up my thread). They replaced 1 headlight, hood, bumper and right fender and it cost about $8000. Yours looks a little worse, so as long as there's no structural damage it should be about $10000.

Well thing is. I tried to swerve out the way because some guy behind decides to speed when i am turning a left so i swerve out the way and i think i swerved a bit too much and i hit a car in oncoming traffic in the corner. And (using physics) since i was going a lot slower than the oncoming traffic when i hit the car i spun a bit since the other car was going much faster. It was a POS camry like 15 years old. The lady cut her lip and was bleeding a bit and decided to BS and say her chest hurt or some ****. Both of our airbags went off and the airbag went off right on my thumb so I have a huge *** bruise on my dam thumb with some burns.

This is the other picture.

Any price for repairs will be gladly appreciated

Id guess anywhere from 6,500-10,000 dollars.... thats a pretty decent hit right there...

Nah didnt rear end. My left corner hit someone and since it was on the other side and they were going much faster i guess my car spun to the side. This was in front of a strip mall and people were with the windows down saying "Dam" "Holy ship :)" and i was on the side tearing up.

Rui Z 12-22-2010 05:40 PM

oh, airbag went off......Add another 5K to my 10K estimate.

Hybrid 350GT 12-22-2010 05:43 PM

yeah, guessing 12k min to 16K max

Yes i forgot to add that my airbag did go off. But then again i did say that my thumb is like dam bruised and burnt from it going off where my thumb was

m4a1mustang 12-22-2010 05:44 PM

That's way beyond $10k. One of our Mid-A members took a hit in his right front corner that didn't look as bad as that and the total repair bill was a little over $20k.

Wait so aorund how much do you think it will cost? And what really ticks me off is the tow people treating the car like crap. They like threw things around and ripped stuff off to get the car to tow.. Im like yo.. those parts cost more than your dam house so calm down.

dad 12-22-2010 05:52 PM

I say 18k! Is you front right tire that bald, or is that just the way the picture looks?

This doesn't include the Camry damage cost either. Sorry, but you're insurance is going up alot. Good luck.

m4a1mustang 12-22-2010 05:53 PM

I'd say at least 15k. Probably closer to 20k though.

I saw a post of a wreck where the rims were like F-ed up and the tires came off or something like that. Both rims and tires were spotless. They were perfect. I guess its the picture

Camry had a small little damage area and probably would only cost 10 dollars anyways.

Snakes709 12-22-2010 06:20 PM

Yea your looking at a price between 15-20k. Thats almost as much as the car is worth. Any more your insurence company would just write it off. Crash bar did its job tho

i meant MSRP the car is 42.6k
But hold on.. there is another thread something like "another Z down" or something. And someone wrote something about GAP protection. I know I have that because we purchased it. What would that do for me?

Lets say you owe $30k on your car but your insurance company totals it and only gives you $22k. The GAP insurance will cover that $8k difference so you can pay off the loan in full.

kgreen 12-22-2010 06:40 PM

sorry man but your car is not worth 43k. Go to KBB.com and see what your car is worth with your mileage. By write-off he means totalled. Write u a check for what its worth and ur done.

jamesleerpc 12-22-2010 06:41 PM

Wait so is my car totaled?!?!

bullitt5897 12-22-2010 06:41 PM

I know its pretty far but I would take it to artcraft collision near Dobbins AFB! All the local car clubs use them and they do excellent work!

That's for your insurance company to decide. That's a lot of damage, so there's probably at least a 50/50% chance that they will total it.

Snakes709 12-22-2010 06:42 PM

Blue book on the cars is like 35,000. If the damage comes close, too or over that amount. They will write the car off. The guy that bought my supercharged cobalt blue booked at $10,000. He got in a wreck that was repairable but was going to cost approx $11,000....the insurence company wrote it off.

If they were to write you a check, it would be for what they call "black book value" which is what your particular car is selling for your area. So, if you go to autotrader, look for what your car is going for, average it out, that's the check they are going to write you.

Hope you got GAP insurance at the dealership, or through your own insurance.

spearfish25 12-22-2010 06:44 PM

Given my recent experience, I'd guess you're looking at $15-20k, more if the motor took a whack. Most insurance companies won't total a car unless the damage is 70-80% of the value. Unless the motor needs to be replaced or there is serious frame or suspension involvement, you're looking at a repair.

From someone who has had to go through this a couple times (on the receiving end of a collision), most insurance companies are not going to give blue book without putting up a fight.

m4a1mustang 12-22-2010 06:47 PM

Blue book is all out of whack for these cars. Try getting blue book on your trade or private sale... not gonna happen.

Trips 12-22-2010 06:49 PM

I'd suggest going thru the insurance process to see what its really going to cost, Instead of asking for estimates with a pic or two?
Sorry to see this and glad you're ok. The Z will get fixed and made like new or not. Just make sure your Happy when the bodyshop is done. Good Luck :tiphat:

Snakes709 12-22-2010 06:49 PM

I got close to blue book for my 09 370z touring. It had 16,000km on it and had some cosmetic damage to it. Car was going for $35,000, they gave me $30,000

Yes I do have GAP insurance. Also, looking at KBB do i look at how much i would get if i traded the car or what? because if i look at how much i would get it is around 35k

That's exactly the argument they gave me: "Why would I give you $28k for your car (what KBB listed it as) when there are people selling it for $18k in auto trader?"

That was geico, I ended having to sue them. And then my story with state farm was very similar.

See thing is that i dont know if my parents want to repair the car if there is a chance of it being totaled. I had more pictures but i guess my phone didnt save all of them. Those are the only pictures i have. I am sorry

I was thinking only a couple thousand under KBB value. :icon17:
