Those of higher order cognition will see through lies and respect a person who has made a mistake and admitted fault moreso than one who has made a mistake and not taken responsibility... IMO ... but you certainly make a valid point.

Please direct your attention to the following... I think many people can agree on the dichotomy you are refering to

I used to get the same comments and dirty looks from people when I was 20 and bought a 2 year old Saab 9-3... I saw it as a compliment that they figured a 20 year old was not capable of achieving something like that... I assumed (and this may not be true, but my assumption at the time) that they made such judgements because they couldnt achieve such lengths when they were 20... IMO
Very true, it certainly takes much more integrity to admit fault and to completely accept responsibility. I didn't mean to come off as attacking and disecting your post by the way, I was only venting a bit in general so my apologies to a fellow Saab guy!

I guess the way people look at you is relative; I first started driving in Greenwich CT and I couldn't count how many kids at my high school trash talked my '96 Saab. I enjoyed having a car that I could say I completely owned, built, and maintained on my own coin and felt that people gave me more respect because of that. Driving the Z on the other hand, I feel like I am seen as a spoiled rich kid (even though I paid for a large percentage of it) but oh well!
