If they were to write you a check, it would be for what they call "black book value" which is what your particular car is selling for your area. So, if you go to autotrader, look for what your car is going for, average it out, that's the check they are going to write you.

Hope you got GAP insurance at the dealership, or through your own insurance.

Given my recent experience, I'd guess you're looking at $15-20k, more if the motor took a whack. Most insurance companies won't total a car unless the damage is 70-80% of the value. Unless the motor needs to be replaced or there is serious frame or suspension involvement, you're looking at a repair.

From someone who has had to go through this a couple times (on the receiving end of a collision), most insurance companies are not going to give blue book without putting up a fight.

Blue book is all out of whack for these cars. Try getting blue book on your trade or private sale... not gonna happen.

I'd suggest going thru the insurance process to see what its really going to cost, Instead of asking for estimates with a pic or two?
Sorry to see this and glad you're ok. The Z will get fixed and made like new or not. Just make sure your Happy when the bodyshop is done. Good Luck

I got close to blue book for my 09 370z touring. It had 16,000km on it and had some cosmetic damage to it. Car was going for $35,000, they gave me $30,000

That's exactly the argument they gave me: "Why would I give you $28k for your car (what KBB listed it as) when there are people selling it for $18k in auto trader?"

That was geico, I ended having to sue them. And then my story with state farm was very similar.

See thing is that i dont know if my parents want to repair the car if there is a chance of it being totaled. I had more pictures but i guess my phone didnt save all of them. Those are the only pictures i have. I am sorry

I was thinking only a couple thousand under KBB value.

If it is totaled dude the car is not being repaired. And whether it gets repaired or not determines on what the insurance company decides.

If you have GAP insurance, it really doesn't matter what they would give you for the car, GAP will pick up the tab.
