i meant MSRP the car is 42.6k
But hold on.. there is another thread something like "another Z down" or something. And someone wrote something about GAP protection. I know I have that because we purchased it. What would that do for me?

Lets say you owe $30k on your car but your insurance company totals it and only gives you $22k. The GAP insurance will cover that $8k difference so you can pay off the loan in full.

If they were to write you a check, it would be for what they call "black book value" which is what your particular car is selling for your area. So, if you go to autotrader, look for what your car is going for, average it out, that's the check they are going to write you.

Hope you got GAP insurance at the dealership, or through your own insurance.

Yes I do have GAP insurance. Also, looking at KBB do i look at how much i would get if i traded the car or what? because if i look at how much i would get it is around 35k

sorry man but your car is not worth 43k. Go to KBB.com and see what your car is worth with your mileage. By write-off he means totalled. Write u a check for what its worth and ur done.

That's for your insurance company to decide. That's a lot of damage, so there's probably at least a 50/50% chance that they will total it.

I know its pretty far but I would take it to artcraft collision near Dobbins AFB! All the local car clubs use them and they do excellent work!

Blue book on the cars is like 35,000. If the damage comes close, too or over that amount. They will write the car off. The guy that bought my supercharged cobalt blue booked at $10,000. He got in a wreck that was repairable but was going to cost approx $11,000....the insurence company wrote it off.

From someone who has had to go through this a couple times (on the receiving end of a collision), most insurance companies are not going to give blue book without putting up a fight.

Given my recent experience, I'd guess you're looking at $15-20k, more if the motor took a whack. Most insurance companies won't total a car unless the damage is 70-80% of the value. Unless the motor needs to be replaced or there is serious frame or suspension involvement, you're looking at a repair.

Blue book is all out of whack for these cars. Try getting blue book on your trade or private sale... not gonna happen.

That's exactly the argument they gave me: "Why would I give you $28k for your car (what KBB listed it as) when there are people selling it for $18k in auto trader?"

That was geico, I ended having to sue them. And then my story with state farm was very similar.

I was thinking only a couple thousand under KBB value.

I'd suggest going thru the insurance process to see what its really going to cost, Instead of asking for estimates with a pic or two?
Sorry to see this and glad you're ok. The Z will get fixed and made like new or not. Just make sure your Happy when the bodyshop is done. Good Luck
