Another Z goes down..:(
 

Looks like my Z is gunna be totalled.
Last Thursday @ about 5 am got a call to help a friend change her tire. On my way there i was on the highway just gettin on the exit ramp when something told me to look behind me and sure enough a car is coming easily over 80mph. By the time i saw the car it was time to get out of the way so i swerved to the left hopped a curb and drove over some huge rocks! Didnt look to where i was swerving and i regret it. Should have just take in the hit and maybe the car would be ok. Damages are..all 4 wheels n tires are blown and bent from the curb and rocks. Everything underneath looks like it was chewed by a shark and some damage to the front bumper.:( Next day i cried for about a good hour over my girl Zena! This is tough guys. would post pics but i cant find the cable for the computer to upload

Probably better off if it's totaled, this way you can pick out Zena II.

yeah i know it is but its still hard to deal with. I dont know what i want to get now..NISMO maybe?

nope! cant say he even braked at all. once i came to a complete stop stuck on the rocks..i didnt even see it again

Honestly I don't care about the z in this point. The only thing that is important is your safety and thank God you're alive. Hope everything turns to a better side brother!

thanks guys for the concern! only u guys know how Z relationship feels haha. so any ideas on what i should get next? another Z or what? no mustang for the record haha but open to other ideas..wouldnt mind having another 4 seater though

i like the z a lot but, suppose something happens to it, i definitely would go for a different car :)

thats what im thinking but i dont know what else i like..the only thing about the Z that gets me is the 2 seats. I really like the lexus isf but i would get used so i need to think about it

Id still choose a z over the camaro or the mustang any day.

me, i would go for a 2011 subaru wrx sti 4 door. i believe it is a lot faster than the 370z.

me too...strongly dislike camaros and mustangs..just not for me

even tho its faster i still think im stepping down. Z has a different swagger. more grown if that makes sense. no offense to evo or sti owners

i understand, but sometimes, you have only a second to make that choice, and sometimes, your instinct tells you to try to avoid the collision. by the time you realize/remember what you should have done, it's too late.

What I don't get is why this asshat was doing 80 mph on the right lane. If you're going to go all out, do so on the left most lane.

That's why I'm in favor of surveillance cameras. Every time I get on the free way, so jerk pulls something like this that puts everyone in danger.

tbh, it would have been a piss poor decision to get hit by another car going at 80 mph. who knows what sort of injury that might have caused, whiplash, back problems etc etc. they say if u have some sort of back injury, no matter what kinda therapy or w.e u go to u never get healed to 100%. better to get out of the way pay the premium and either fix or total ur ride.

You'd be wrong. The STI runs 13.1-13.3 just like the 370z. From a roll the STI would be eaten alive as the AWD robs the power. To put it another way the 370z dynos at roughly 270hp at the wheels vs. 240hp for the STI. In order for the STI to have similar hp to the Z it has to run stage II.

To the OP, I was in a similar situation 1mo ago. My beautiful yellow 09 touring sport was totaled and I had to get another car. The only other cars I looked at were the corvette and 4 door STI ( I used to have an 06 WRX back in the day so I'm still partial to Subys). The corvette, while much faster, didn't have the same feel and the interior quality just wasn't up to par. I could have got past the materials they used but when looking at some used Vettes that were only 1-3 years old (wanted to see how the cars held up over time) I noticed the seats wore really bad, some rattles were noted, and there were areas where the carpet would pull up or fall down. Overall the Z just won out.

As for the suby, great car but two things lead me not to get it. First was that the dealer wouldn't let me test drive it. I went back twice and no dice. They wanted me to buy the car just from sitting in it. Second, as you already mentioned, it just doesn't feel as grown up as the Z.

In the end I wanted another touring sport in Blue (could no longer get yellow) but would have had to order it and wait 3mo. With my job I couldn't wait that long just driving my 280z or 300zx so I opted to get a black Nismo. I don't regret my option to get another Z since there really isn't anything out there similar. The mustang sure is tempting but it's just too generic looking. Besides, my girlfriend already has a Camaro 2SS 6speed

Lesson learned. Don't swerve.
