Can I get the complete build details from the VIN? Does carfax provide this? Don't want to waste my money. Sorry for the newbie Q, but I have to start

Can I get the complete build details from the VIN? Does carfax provide this? Don't want to waste my money. Sorry for the newbie Q, but I have to start somewhere.
