Really? I would literally be shi77ing my pants if I got caught doing that. I'd already have tears down my face by the time he got to my window. I can just imagine my life flashing before my eyes!

Knock on wood, no speeding tickets in more than 10 yrs.

Well this was before I got busted in SC for 90 in 70 after writing this post in my old lady SUV :shakes head:, the Policeman said he cut me some slack since I was with the family going down to FL for XMas so he gave me 79 in 70. Only like $85.

The worst was in Dec 2012 in my damn 92 Ford Ranger 40 in 25, got a Lawyer and Defense Driving On-Line Class. reduce to 34 in 25 paid $156.00 plus the Lawyer, DAMN Republic of Virginia.

Vegas trip ticket

Well,me and the wife took the Z to Vegas for my Uncles memorial service. We have had the car since November and never had a chance to see what it could do on an open road. We live in AZ, so it's about an 5 hour drive. Got it up to 147mph on the GPS, and all was going good until we came up over this hill and saw the DPS car on the side of the road:(. He got me on radar at 99mph,
but wrote it as civil not criminal speeding. Looks like Ill be taking the online driving school.

Must have been great fun while getting to 147 in the twin turbo Z, at least. How much was the ticket?

gunner 02-15-2013 10:18 PM

last time I went to traffic school it was $85.00 that was 15 years ago.

I would expect to pay a lot more than that now. 99mph on the 5fwy in SoCal, you'd be looking at $400-500. Might not be as bad in AZ or NV. But 87mph got me $349 I think it was or $389. If you take traffic school, add to that. Costs are brutal now.

I have two I would consider "Worst tickets" from two standpoints.

Ticket #1:
If you live in NC, you need to get inspected every year to get registered. I have darker tint than legal (approx 15-20% for NC which we will get to in ticket 2 :D ) and had a rear mount turbo which gave me spurious MAF codes. Which means you gotta do some work to get a passed inspection. It was 2 weeks before I was set to deploy and my reg ran out, because I was gearing up to leave and didnt want to mess with my car to reg it for a week. While I was driving it to get it stored, I got pulled over by Military police. After I plead my case, he wrote me up for expired Reg. I sent the money in no problem. I found out though that it got returned (dunno why?) while I was overseas and never got processed. Which brings me to ticket #2.

Ticket #2
Days after the aforementioned deployment and getting my car registered again, I decide i am going to drive my 350 up to Ohio to see my fam. I dont know if you guys ever have driven up 77 North, but that drive is nice (many curves and hills). Problem is though once you hit a certain point in VA, its nothing but traffic and police. Its starting to rain heavily which made traffic even worse on this particular day. It was bumper to bumper traffic going the speed limit when I see flashing lights behind me. I got over thinking he was trying to get by me because I wasnt doing anything illegal. NOPE, the officer was trying to pull ME over :shakes head: . I quote: "Do you know why I pulled you over" he says. "Not a clue" I say as hes getting out his window opacity meter. Yeah he pulled me over in bumper to bumper traffic for my 18% tint...... . Not only that but I had my deployment paperwork with me, Military ID with me, and it was my birthday. His response to that was, "Ok, ill get you out of here real quick with a ticket". OH THANK YOU for expediting my ticket process fellow service member.... :icon14: . After writing the ticket he comes back and tells me my license is suspended (I had no clue) because of the ticket number 1 mishap.
This scared me more than anything, I received a court date and got everything dropped before the court started by talking to the members of the court, thank goodness.

Also Ive probably been pulled over about 15 times in one area of NC and always just ask for license and reg and im on my way though. I always ask the officers why and a couple told me because Im driving at 2-3 am (to work) and I have a "suspicious looking vehicle" Does anyone else get this?

I don't care if you have a lawyer or not.

Not all cops are like that. The one who pulled me over was relaxed and calm the entire time. As soon as I saw lights I threw on my hazards and pulled over. Keys out of the bike, helmet off, license out ready for him. I knew I was speeding and was 100% compliant. I said sir everytime I spoke to him and showed him respect. I was wrong. No trying to get out of it. Amazing what communication and respect can do when talking with cops.

Latest ticket was the night I got my Z. 4 hours after I drove her off the lot I got pulled over for 47 in a 35. I was ~50 ft from the 45 mph speed limit sign. I pointed out to the officer that the sign was right there and he said the limit didn't go up till I got to the sign. Wrote me my ticket for $181 and I paid it next paycheck.

I had a similar ticket. I knew there was an 80km/hr zone just ahead (4-500ft) and I was in a 60k zone, I end up getting the light and a crept up to 80k and sure enough at the last driveway there was a cop about 100-150ft from the 80k zone :shakes head: and that was in a pathfinder :ugh2:...... I was heading out to snowboard

Yea was a pretty crappy ticket but he was technically correct so I just said yes sir and paid it. Easiest thing to do.

I know some cops are more lenient than others, gotcha. But you also have cops like this one who pulled over Matt Farah.... lol sucks to be him.

Reckless driving for 95 in a 65 on I-40 in NC
Reckeless driving is a class 2 misdemeanor here so I spent five hours in jail until I was bailed out, also fined 1200.
NC is a bitch
