No worries. I did the same when I graduated college in August 2009. I lived with them until I bought my house in April. I didn't mind living with my patents at all. Nice house, my own wing of the house, free food, no rent. Now my life revolves around bills.

fixed again. ;)

you really need to get out of your parent's house and live on your own to consider youself an adult. unless you're taking care of your ill parents or something in return. from wat you've posted your dad rocks a GT-R and mom probably drives around a nice benz or something, right?

kids say they pay for their own cars but adults pay mortgages and utilities, raise kids, and yet pay for their cars. big difference.

kenchan 12-17-2010 10:53 AM

now im hungry again. :yum: (chomped on some cookies my wife baked me last night. :p )

Tomorrow? You have a Saturday class? That sucks! I have a day planned with the Z.

spitfire9200 12-17-2010 12:15 PM

i'm still mad I clicked that luxury4play link. It's RIDICULOUS. this 18 year old kid has like 5 ferraris and ****. Ugh I read it all and I think i'm going to puke. We don't have health care but this kid has a ferrari for every day of the week.

but I digress. Don't click that link.

kenchan makes a really good point. To outsiders, having a nice car does give you the appearance of being well put-together and successful, but it doesn't necessarily mean you are. someone who owns their own home and drives a beater every day has accomplished more financially than someone who owns a nice car. and chances are, at 22, you don't own your own home and drive a sports car. not saying its impossible. but i'd be willing ti guess that most of the really young people on here owning a Z are living with parents.

I live at home, and i paid for my Z myself. but i dont try and pretend that i would have done it if i were living on my own. I definitely would not have. I would be spending money on mortgage, property taxes, home maintenance, utilities etc. But i don't have to do that because i'm living with my parents. and i have such a great appreciation for the fact that them still letting me live at home does allow me to treat myself to some nice things, like my Z, but my focus is on saving to buy a house not spend a ton of money on cars.

I made the decision to buy the Z knowing it might keep me at home for an extra year, which is fine with me. I'm living at home because it makes sense for me and it allows me to save most of the money i make and put it towards buying my own house etc. I dont live at home so i can spend all my money on cars or car parts. Does living at home allow me to spend more money on a car then i would have otherwise? yes, but it's not the reason i am living at home.

I know the wise thing to do would have been to hold on to my altima and save the 23k difference between what my altima was worth used, and what my z was going to cost me new. My dad, who is a big influence on me and my financial decision making and planning told me that if i really wanted the car, i should buy it. maybe it will set me back a few months living at home, but you have to live life, and you can't base every decision around what is the most financially viable choice.

^ I don't want a sports car when I'm 30+ and married, I'll settle for a home and an SUV then. I lived on my own before getting the Z, and the Z is more fun lol.

My kids aren't getting anything from me growing up. Oh you want some milk and diapers? go get a job and buy them yourself! I gave you life and that's all you're getting from me.

In all seriousness though, I think we're all pretty lucky to even be able to own a 370z. You can say luck doesn't have anything to do with it and that you worked hard for it but really you're lucky enough to have the opportunity to work hard for it.

And I applaud people for mooching off their parents for as long as possible.

Very well put, Jeff:tup:

Maybe its just darwin's modern way of doing his thing, maybe I am just bitter.
