Scratch in Bumper

So i picked my car up at night. A day or two later i went over it and found a scratch in the bumper. I cant get good pics of it to show but its thru the paint. Its about an inch long. Talked to dealership and they kinda gave me the you did driving around. It looks like and even the guy at their the body shop they had me take it to has rubbing compound around it that maybe when they detailed it they scratched it and tried to buff it out. I can live with the scratch. I know if i make a big deal about it and have it fixed i will knock the bumper on something and do far worse.

But should i try and have them fix it? Worried that if i do it may not match. They are supposedly contacting nissan about maybe having it fixed. They even commented when the car showed up and during inspection it was dusty and they may have missed it. The quote to fix it was 443.00 and i figure if they deny it, if it bothers me that bad i can have it fixed.

Just up in the air about what to do, maybe if it wasnt brand new i wouldnt even care as much. Really doesnt bother me now exept when i see it. You do have to look for it to notice it. Probably best left alone is what im thinking.

In the corner of the pic you can see the compound that is there, there was a ton more but the dealership when i took it up there rubbed most of it out when i let them look at it.

i think you should just get a touch up paint for that. I dont think its worth paying 443. And that scratch was probably a hit and run

Take touch-up paint and blend it in, then have a clear bra installed. Problem solved.

Touch up paint may actually make the issue worse if you don't know what your doing, FYI.

Yeah touch-up paint is what i was thinking. And looking into getting the clear bra installed.

I had a similar issue. The dealer refused to fix it and stopped just short of calling me a liar. In the end I chalked it up to a learning experience and used some touch up.
The next new car I buy will get a THOROUGH inspection.
You have to look really hard to see the scratch now.

I've got a worse scratch on my back bumper from some POS hitting me in a parking lot sometime over the past 24-48 hours.

I just polished what I could, and ordered some touch-up paint online.

My car is about as new as yours (500 miles, 2 weeks old). Do what I'm doing... just get over it, wait a year or two, and pay for repaint when it really needs it due to rock chips. No sense spending all that money when your paint is otherwise perfect, as I'm sure it is right now (like mine).

Pretty much what they are doing to me. I have some touch up paint coming, they offered to pay for that.

When i found it i new that i wasnt going to make a big deal about it. Its hard to see unless pointed out.

Yeah that I would try touch up paint in a small section of it to see how it turns out 1st, otherwise I would just leave it as is..... really can't notice it and its not worth $443 bucks.

also ask if your dealer has a mobile touchup place that comes around to do their used cars. they have special equipment to match paint. would turn out cleaner (even on spot paint) than a brushed touchup.

Ask your dealer if they will fix it on good faith. Most times they have a good faith amount they will cover. Plus your paint and body warranty is 1 year from date of purchase. My dealer covered $300 on good faith to fix a similar issue I had. Good luck!

I had a rock chip on my hood and when in for service my dealer did a half *** mediocre touch up job... I dont know if I should be mad or pleased they did something they didnt have to do, lol...

I guess its the thought that counts, but I was going to just leave it.. it actualy looks better from 4-5 feet away but up close it looks like a so-so touch up job... what eva...

Try McGuirer's Scratch X .... its cheap but I find it works better than almost any scratch removing product. Def dont respray it yet because our paint is soft and before long you will have rock chips.. I am just going to respray my front end when the time comes... My old g35 coupe was mangled with chips and at 50k I resprayed the front end and all was good again...

Its into the plastic, I think I'm just gonna touch it up. If I make a big deal about it a week later I will catch the bumper on something just the luck I have lol. Wish I could get better pics tho cause below it the paint looks thin. But if dealer does decide to fix it I may let em. Thee more I think about it the less I care tho.
