I'm not much of a paranoid guy (at least I don't think so. Did someone say I was? Were you talking about me?!?), but I had about the 10th close call (accident-wise) with a junker of a vehicle. This morning it was some POS Dodge pickup with part hanging off. I was turning right at a light, he was turning left. He clearly say me as I began the turn, and made no attempts to slow or stop. I had to really gun it to get ahead of him (props to my Hankook all seasons!:tup:).

This happens every coupe of weeks. Some mess of a car parks too close, tailgates, etc.

Does this happen to anyone else?

all the time, you basically have to drive like every other person on the road is a moron, because if you start to assume...accident time!

Some mess of a car parks too close. Does this happen to anyone else? I have taken to putting orange cones around my car at work. I feel stupid doing it but My Z is like a magnet for others to park so close to it I can't open the door, in an empty parking lot.

I have always thought about doing that! But I am sure people think I am weird enough when I am washing my car in the school parking lot anyway so I don't really need the extra attention.

I feel like this type of issue is going to come up with any car you really love because you are trying to look out for these types of events.

I am with you Prof Dave. EVERY time I drive my car to a client call, I almost get into an accident of some sort. I just do not get it.....

ive had like 3 close calls during the first few weeks of ownership. things have calmed down.

remember that you're in a type of car some people are jealous of... some folks will do anything to bug the hell out of you on purpose. i had this frikken dumbarse asian dood that cut me off a few weeks ago. i blew my horn thinking he didn't check his blind spot, he clearly saw me in his sidemirror after i blew and made 2 additional attemps to cut me off.

so i just slowed down and pardoned him for being a stupid arse asian driving a old civic.

i should've asked him if he likes potstickers.

Hankook Ventus V4 ES. Ultra High Performance All Seasons for the cold weather. They helped me avoid a second accident this afternoon (not my day). Sentra backed out of a driveway into traffic. Gunned it and swerved around them. Totally impressed with the handling of the Z by the way both times. VDC did not kick in which I like. Told me I was within the limits of the car.

I agree with you 100%. I currently dd an IS300 and when it was bone stock I never really had many issues with people going out of their way to be cocks. I recently threw on some enkei wheels with pretty wide tires and the car gets alot of looks now. It also seems to bring out the a-holes. It's like I have to go out of my way to avoid these people on the road now. I would assume it will be worse with a new 370z. You don't see them around much and their super hawt looking. People feel so safe inside their bubble like they can do whatever they want and nothing bad can come of it. It's when your start tailing them to have a freindly encounter that they start to worry and realize that their c0ck move might get their personal space invaded :tiphat:

Other than the potsticker comment he didn't say anything wrong. An asian person is an asian person just like a white guy is a white guy. The guy was only painting a picture for us.

My favorite incident:
Was waiting in the Z at the front of Walmart to pick up my wife. (hate going in that place). Guy walks over and leaves his shopping cart 10 inches from my front bumper! Eye contact, smirk, and walks away. Wife arrives, we leave, and spot the guy at the very back of the lot, bags in hand. Roll up behind him in neutral, three feet behind, into gear and make like I'm doin the quarter mile. From my rear view, I could see he'd let go of the bags, and he was twitching pretty good!
Yah, I know, kinda immature, and some sh.t from the wife........ still worth it though!

I used to have it all the time when I drove a sporty car. Never had it happen in my G20. In the WS6, I got flipped off for no reason, tail-gated, swerved at, etc. etc.

Take it as a sh1tty compliment. People are jelous and want to **** with you.

Some douche left a shopping buggey on it's side right in front of my bumper one time. Was in a hurry and didn't see it. Scratched up the paint pretty good. Moral of the story? Avoid wal-mart in a nice car. Trashy people frequent it too often.

happens everytime park at the far end of the parking lot and when you get back someone in a beater is parked right next to you.

I hate when idiots change lanes without checking their blind and I have to avoid them. To top it off they give me a look a hand jester like I almost ran them over.

that person doesn't even work at my office building, they work at a building down the road and just park in the lot b/c its free.

that is so wrong, there are so many other places to park in that lot.

hahah i know. more recently, this cute girl from my building started parking next to me and it doesn't seem to bother me as much :p her car is in weirdly good shape. like, its always pristine, kinda weird. she doesn't really seem like the type to be into cars. maybe she just parks in the garage at home so it stays pretty clean.

i remember at when i was working at the last company, these guys would drive brand the new lexus and a few weeks later, they were back to driving their old hondas, toyotas. "What happened?" i asked them. they all told me the Lexus were the wives' cars.

I really wish I could explain why people feel the need to park RIGHT next to our cars when the parking lot is clearly empty. Nothing drives me more insane.

People must think that if they park near a nice car the chances of someone vandalizing or breaking into their POS car is slim to none.

Sometimes I pee on their door handle and it makes me feel better.

That's just obscene :shakes head:. It's the sheep effect at its most imbecilic level. Personally, just to make me feel better I'd stick a firm but polite note on his windshield.

Many people have it tough latley, if they haven't lost a job, or a spouse hasn't lost a job, cutting income massivley, then they are underwater in their mortgage if not going into forclosure because the interest only option arm has reset and their payments have gone up 20%.......

During the credit boom times of the last 15 years or so, many people thought they were doing much better financially than they actually were, and now reality has come to roost.

And unfortunatley people are just p-o'd, and it's human nature to resent people who are still doing well and showing it off with a new car, either down to good luck or just old fashioned hard work and sacrafice for years putting you in a good position.....

I can understand if someone is saying "Wow, sucks to drive what you drive...I have a *insert*!"

However, there is ALWAYS someone doing better than you, and if you can't accept that, you need to work on personal improvement--it's not their fault you're not as successful as they are.

I understand where you are coming from, and I think you are right, but I don't feel like that is a cop-out to act a turd. I still remember when I was in college and I remarked "I hate rich people, and if/when I'm rich, I'll hate poor people like those rich people hate us now."

Yeah--pretty much. Although, I don't hate poor people. I hate how some people behave because they perceive themselves to be poor and take it out on those who they perceive to be better off. Let's face it. If you are posting on the 'net, you either have a good community resource (library) at your disposal, and transportation (public/private) to get you there, or your health to walk there, or you have your own personal PC and internet connection/connection you pirated with your aircard.

Either way, if you're reading this, you aren't that bad off :)
