i remember at when i was working at the last company, these guys would drive brand the new lexus and a few weeks later, they were back to driving their old hondas, toyotas. "What happened?" i asked them. they all told me the Lexus were the wives' cars. |
I really wish I could explain why people feel the need to park RIGHT next to our cars when the parking lot is clearly empty. Nothing drives me more insane.
People must think that if they park near a nice car the chances of someone vandalizing or breaking into their POS car is slim to none. Sometimes I pee on their door handle and it makes me feel better. |

It's not a conspiracy unless you see little gray big eyed geeks trying to wreck you.

Many people have it tough latley, if they haven't lost a job, or a spouse hasn't lost a job, cutting income massivley, then they are underwater in their mortgage if not going into forclosure because the interest only option arm has reset and their payments have gone up 20%.......
During the credit boom times of the last 15 years or so, many people thought they were doing much better financially than they actually were, and now reality has come to roost. And unfortunatley people are just p-o'd, and it's human nature to resent people who are still doing well and showing it off with a new car, either down to good luck or just old fashioned hard work and sacrafice for years putting you in a good position..... |

However, there is ALWAYS someone doing better than you, and if you can't accept that, you need to work on personal improvement--it's not their fault you're not as successful as they are. I understand where you are coming from, and I think you are right, but I don't feel like that is a cop-out to act a turd. I still remember when I was in college and I remarked "I hate rich people, and if/when I'm rich, I'll hate poor people like those rich people hate us now." Yeah--pretty much. Although, I don't hate poor people. I hate how some people behave because they perceive themselves to be poor and take it out on those who they perceive to be better off. Let's face it. If you are posting on the 'net, you either have a good community resource (library) at your disposal, and transportation (public/private) to get you there, or your health to walk there, or you have your own personal PC and internet connection/connection you pirated with your aircard. Either way, if you're reading this, you aren't that bad off :) *You/you're, etc. are not personal, but universal, in context above. |

I feel like that will make people that will typically ignore your car go f*ck it up just to spite you or f*ck with you... brave man. Now if you drove a Maybach or a Bentley, they would probably see the cones and understand, lol. |
The guy who intentionally tried to get me into an accident in his POS truck could have just been universally unstable or a sociopath. The smug look he gave me said "you think you're better than me?', which led me to believe his actions were about the car (I'm theorizing of course. Had I engaged him in conversation that would not have been the first thing I would have "said"). But I'm thinking it's a Nissan, not a Ferrari! It's a 30+k car, not 100+k. There are beemers, mercs, and lexus (lexi?) all around me that cost much more. They are boring looking cars, so maybe people don't get offended.
So, I should buy an old Escort or something to drive? |

also, add in the fact that just b/c someone is in possesion of a nice car doesn't mean they are really wealthy enough to afford it. These days, all you need is decent credit, and the willingness to take on a huge debt in order to 'own'(but not really). also it could be a leased car. I think most people who would hate on a nice car owner would think 'oh, nice car, they must be so rich they paid cash for it. fvck them. but honestly, i think its mostly influenced by being totally aloof. Jeremy clarkson had quote that went something like this: "People who drive rubbish cars should not be allowed to drive. Here's why. If you drive a rubbish car, it means you don't like cars. If you don't like something, then you can't be any good at it, and if you're not any good at driving, you shouldn't be allowed to drive" obviously, he is kidding around but he does make a certain point. If you drive a shitty car (And its your ONLY car, not your beater or w/e) chances are (not necessarily) that you really don't care about cars at all. as long as it gets you from a-b, you don't care what it is, how it looks, how it drives or anything. So chances are, when you pull into a parking lot and you see a really nice car, it doesn't really register as a nice car. it's just a car, and you park next to it for no apparent reason. You park very close because you don't care about cars, and can't understand why someone would care if you invaded the 'space' of your vehicle. there are a lot of people out there that don't give a rats *** about cars. There was a girl in my high school that, beyond the color and number of doors, couldn't tell the difference between cars. She'd look at a 7 series bmw, and not understand the difference between that and a black dodge stratus. it just didn't register. they were both just black sedans. |
