Gas pedal piviot issues.
Hey, I can't be the only one on this forum who thinks that Nissan made a mistake pivoting the gas pedal on the bottom (just like my Mom's 1964 Chrysler New Yorker) instead of on the top like most sports cars. Has anyone tried to reverse it?

the whole accelerator pedal is floor mounted, not fire wall mounted. id imagine no one has tried or will try.

Could be just me, but I find a top pivot pedal easier to modulate because the arc-of-travel of a top pivot gas pedal more closely matches the arc-of-travel of the brake pedal (and clutch pedal if you got one of those). I find it distracting to have to constantly adjust to the two different pedal movements, something I never seemed to have to do on top pivot gas pedals.

I guess I'm going to have to check this out and see what it might take to make the change. My guess is it will be either super easy or super hard. Opinions?

Honestly this was something I was worried about when I first got the car but after a couple days I totally forgot about it. I don't even notice the difference going between my different cars now. I've got a 77 280z, 84 300zx, and my girl has a 2010 camaro SS 6-speed. The only thing I have to adjust for when switching cars is the clutch as they are all different. In regards to the gas pedal I don't even notice it.

You're right, it's not a big deal, but like many members here, I want the car to reflect my preferences and I'm prepared to go the extra mile to achieve that end.

The pedal is a self contained electronic unit. You can theoretically reposition it anywhere you want provided you do so without modification to the pedal itself.

ive gotten use to the organ pedal from my MINI days. but yes, it did force me to use the side of my foot instead of my heel to heel and toe. but then with SRM i dont do that even. lol hahaha.
it's okay for me. |

I find the brake / accelerator pedal transition awkward and I think it is partly because of the hinge on the bottom, and partly the height difference - not so easy to slide from light braking to slight acceleration or maybe it's the other way around
