Gas pedal piviot issues.

I wonder what the reasoning behind where they put the pivot point is. I was doing a little bit of googling and didn't find much but it does appear that

I wonder what the reasoning behind where they put the pivot point is. I was doing a little bit of googling and didn't find much but it does appear that fly by wire accelerators tend to typically have the pivot point at the bottom because that is where the electronics are that send the engine the data. I don't see why that couldn't be moved in a design but it also appears that higher end car manufacturers are trending to the pivot point at the bottom as well. There must be some reason this performs better otherwise why would they go there?
