Would you rather have:

2011 base model at invoice, your #1 color
2009 sport+touring, #2 color, 1000 miles, 1k less.

Is this a value question where you have only this much to spend, or a personal question?

If it's personal, and I only had that much to spend, I would save up/wait until I found a '10 model I liked and buy the sport/touring, unless you plan lotsa mods or something. It's better to save for a bit longer and get what you want rather than buy "now" and then a few months later when you would have saved a few K and evened it out see what you REALLY wanted and think "Man, I could have had that if I weren't so impatient."

Avoid first year production like the plague. Also, the 1-wheel peal of the base model makes it a "fail" in my opinion as well, unless you want the car just for looks and don't care about anything performance-wise. Again, in which case the Touring is much MUCH nicer inside.

That being said, if all you have is what you have, and now is when it's got to be, get the loaded '09 and if you don't like it, you are going to come out better on the re-sale. Still, make sure the price is an equally footed "bargain" to the invoice pricing on the base. I don't know what used Z's go for.

Import, did 2009's have problems or is that just a general statement on 1st year models?

Im not familiar with one wheel peel. Sounds fun though

Sibze 12-08-2010 08:32 AM

I would have never bought my Z unless it was the colour I wanted...

1-wheel peal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6Uoa5ysEMg

2-wheel burn-out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ue1u9gqiwvs

All depends on what you want to accomplish I guess.

The 2009's were rumored to use oil more in some cases. Other than that, it's just a general opinion/statement.

I have a 2009. I have never had an issue...

Lack of ownership has not impaired my ability to find and read Nissan's TSB's any more than owning the car has enabled you to.

lol nevermind, I am not getting into this

m4a1mustang 12-08-2010 08:41 AM

Get a Trans Am instead. :ugh2:

Sibze 12-08-2010 08:41 AM

papashango, get what you want! The price is not a big difference so if you really want all the toys and the sprots package and can take colour #2 go for it.

If the colour is the most important thing then get the 2011

Sibze 12-08-2010 08:42 AM

Or get a 2002 G20 A4 Silver

Only if OP wants a much lamer vehicle than he intended to buy.
Much worse handling/interior/reliability.

Good call for a DD, don't want to take the beast out to work, etc. all the time. I will say, though, mine has had it's fair share of issues. I would not buy another Infiniti for DD duty.

Pretty much, it's your money, not ours. Biggest thing I see is the difference in interior and color. If you don't know what a 1-wheel peal is, prolly doesn't matter a whole lot to you. If the 2009 has issues, TSB will obviously cover. Either way, if neither is exactly what you want--wait. Nothing hurts worse than thinking "I could have..." a few months later.

^Beat me to my quick-edit. I agree 100%. I graduated and could have bought something half a year ago. I'm just holding out for what I really want. Sometimes I feel weak. In those moments, I go sit in my dream car and smile at the people at the dealership and make light conversation. Odd? Wierd? Maybe, perhapse, whatever. It keeps the money in my bank account and has made me some good friends.

I agree, I would have been pissed if I settled... I settled a little on not getting the Nav and I do regret it...
