Posters selling their Z for a GT
Ive noticed a few folks here recently sold their Z for a 2011 GT. Nothing wrong with that, both fine cars. Just curious what prompted you to make the move?
|
Most made the move because they wanted the extra power and torque while still remaining in the same price range. For what it is the GT is a great buy.
|
I don't get why Nissan can't do the same if they want more sales?
|
I dont understand anyone who says the 370 doesnt have enough power or torque. It felt FASTER to me than the GT.
|
I agree with you, the power to weight ratio is different. I wish Nissan would give us a turbo version for the Z like the 300zx.

-Did you drive them back to back? -Faster from 0mph, 20mph, other? -Did you put your foot to the floor on both? The Z and the Mustang are both quick cars, as to why some are switching is more multiple reasons. Some want to get away from the VQ engine, others are big fans of a Mustang but the 4.6L was 'meh' to them, and some just like to change vehicles. |
+1!

I did drive them back to back. For me im not racing or tracking so if it feels faster that is good enough for me, do not care so much about numbers.
The Z just felt more responsive to me. granted they were both automatic transitions. When i stepped on the mustang it delayed a second, then roared back and shot forward. The Z was instantaneous. The z driving experience was more exhilaration all around. |
one of them is a half asian redneck.

Basically I was on vacation in St. Louis when a black panel van pulled up next to me on the street and masked men dragged me in, then knocked me unconcious. I woke up on the floor of some lavish office. Dazed and confused, I got up and looked around. There was an odd chair made out of a bear sitting in front of the office desk with a note that said, "please have a seat." So, I sat down and all of a sudden this bear grabbed me. Next thing I knew I was sore and driving home in a 5.0.

Plus I really felt like I needed a change. I grew frustrated with the lack of any low-end grunt with the Z and it started to feel stale to me. I had it for 1.5 years and 27,500 miles so I felt like I really got a lot out of that relationship and that it was time to move on and try a new car. We'll see how long I keep this one. One of our members, Modshack, who also went from a 370 to a Brembo pkg 5.0 has had something like 56 cars... I fear I am going to be like him. :icon17: |

If that was really the case I'd be flying right now. :icon17: |
Also my car has Sync so I get to send really annoying text messages to JeffBlue and theDreamer while driving around. :bowrofl:

I drove the 5.0, and yes it has some really good kick from 3500rpms to redline but you prob want the 3.73+ gears because it sure isnt anything like a 6.3L LS3 motor down low. That and the interior is typical Ford blandness, BOOORING and uninspired. The loaded ones are a great deal, no doubt, but I love my Z. Two seater, FR layout, awesome interior, excellent handling, reliability, near top of the line V6 in power, enough potential for upgrades, and its looks simply smash the 5.0, its a clear winner for me.
Add the fact that you can get them up to around 360-370hp at the crank with full exhaust/intake and tune and you're not that terribly far off from the 5.0. Yes it will win and it kicks harder down low, but its not going to be smoking you like a new vette would at that point. I'd probably take my $35k and buy a C5 Z06 in mint shape with low miles if I wanted max power for the money. It will handle the 5.0 just fine and then some. I only had to be in that car for about 2 sec before I was done. When I left, I felt like I was back in a Ferrari sitting in the 370Z interior after the 5.0. Cant argue though, feeling faster or not the 5.0 will out run you unless you have FI. It all comes down to what you want. Miata's feel amazing until you see the speedometer slowly crossing 50mph after about 6-7 sec. |
The great thing about the Base 370 is that you still get the premium interior sans the seats, but even then the base sport seats in the Z are great. The base Mustang is VERY plain and they don't use the good sport/cloth fabric like the Z does...
The Premium is on par with the Touring Z, but the base is just blah. I could NEVER own a base Mustang. The only time I'd buy a base model is if I was planning on tearing it down to turn into a track machine. But my Premium package 5.0 is super comfy and the steering wheel, seats, and other leather appointments are fab. |
This belongs here.

Sounds like the bear violated you pretty good! I looked at the 5.0s when I bought my Z. If you get one that is fully loaded they are pretty nice inside. Much better than camaro imo. In the end the Z had plenty of power and quality for me. |

The way I see it is you can choose between an iconic sports car with a 332hp V6 or an iconic American muscle car with a 412 hp v8. Both go, stop, and turn like hell. What a tough life we all lead! :icon17: If those of us posting here today did not have balls, this thread would have been aptly titled: "Posters selling their Prius for an Insight?" :bowrofl: |
