It was a number of reasons, but mainly I'd say it was the power. I have the Brembo package Mustang which comes with the brakes (obviously) and the sport suspension (stiffer springs, shocks, and revised stability control and traction control programming) which has probably 95% of the handling of the 370, so I didn't feel like I was giving anything up.
Plus I really felt like I needed a change. I grew frustrated with the lack of any low-end grunt with the Z and it started to feel stale to me. I had it for 1.5 years and 27,500 miles so I felt like I really got a lot out of that relationship and that it was time to move on and try a new car. We'll see how long I keep this one. One of our members, Modshack, who also went from a 370 to a Brembo pkg 5.0 has had something like 56 cars... I fear I am going to be like him.

If that was really the case I'd be flying right now.

Also my car has Sync so I get to send really annoying text messages to JeffBlue and theDreamer while driving around.

I drove the 5.0, and yes it has some really good kick from 3500rpms to redline but you prob want the 3.73+ gears because it sure isnt anything like a 6.3L LS3 motor down low. That and the interior is typical Ford blandness, BOOORING and uninspired. The loaded ones are a great deal, no doubt, but I love my Z. Two seater, FR layout, awesome interior, excellent handling, reliability, near top of the line V6 in power, enough potential for upgrades, and its looks simply smash the 5.0, its a clear winner for me.
Add the fact that you can get them up to around 360-370hp at the crank with full exhaust/intake and tune and you're not that terribly far off from the 5.0. Yes it will win and it kicks harder down low, but its not going to be smoking you like a new vette would at that point. I'd probably take my $35k and buy a C5 Z06 in mint shape with low miles if I wanted max power for the money. It will handle the 5.0 just fine and then some. I only had to be in that car for about 2 sec before I was done. When I left, I felt like I was back in a Ferrari sitting in the 370Z interior after the 5.0. Cant argue though, feeling faster or not the 5.0 will out run you unless you have FI. It all comes down to what you want. Miata's feel amazing until you see the speedometer slowly crossing 50mph after about 6-7 sec.

The great thing about the Base 370 is that you still get the premium interior sans the seats, but even then the base sport seats in the Z are great. The base Mustang is VERY plain and they don't use the good sport/cloth fabric like the Z does...
The Premium is on par with the Touring Z, but the base is just blah. I could NEVER own a base Mustang. The only time I'd buy a base model is if I was planning on tearing it down to turn into a track machine. But my Premium package 5.0 is super comfy and the steering wheel, seats, and other leather appointments are fab.

Sounds like the bear violated you pretty good! I looked at the 5.0s when I bought my Z. If you get one that is fully loaded they are pretty nice inside. Much better than camaro imo. In the end the Z had plenty of power and quality for me.

The way I see it is you can choose between an iconic sports car with a 332hp V6 or an iconic American muscle car with a 412 hp v8. Both go, stop, and turn like hell. What a tough life we all lead! If those of us posting here today did not have balls, this thread would have been aptly titled: "Posters selling their Prius for an Insight?"
