why are you such an expert on cars you don't have? i dont understand. like, if you can't provide any info on this, then you're obviously wrong. if you can provide detailed info on why you are right, it just shows you spend a disproportionate amount of time researching warranty issues on cars you don't have, and don't plan on ever getting. seems like a lose-lose situation... crap..... brb i have to go research warranty issues on the 2009 mazda speed3, later guys! i've actually hired a private investigator who will examine the designer's fecal matter to determine what his diet has consisted of lately to determine his stress levels in response to said warranty issues

first of all, that wouldn't be the first time that a car company lied about a new model for whatever reason (think power numbers underrated back in the 60's for insurance reasons). secondly, i think i know what you are talking about and at the time, they were marketing the "launch control" system as a way to "break free from being stuck in snow" iirc or something along those lines. it was a BS throw away line as a CYA kind of thing. everyone and their brother knows what a built in 4500rpm rev limiter at stand still is for... or maybe you don't:shakes head:

here are the facts...

2009 LC1 VDC off "original Launch control" Was a warranty issue...0-60 3.2 secs
2009 ( all owners who wanted it received TCM update to 2010 spec LC2 ) 0-60 3.5 secs
2010 LC2 3K rpm launch Manual or automode any set up switch 0-60 3.5 secs
2011 LC3 3.3k RPM launch Manual mode RRR only 0-60 3.3 secs
2012 LC4 3.5-4K RPM Manual mode RRR only 0-60 2.9 secs ( nissan released a official press release and a video that shows the car being held to 4K rpm and launched with VDC on)

im not even going to address the its automatic your pretend to drive as a manaul comment.... or the GTR drives itself comment... take it a track at 150mph and see how well it drives itself

I'm going to take your word on this matter. Sounds like you know quite a bit more than most here.

I considered the Viper, GT-R, Z06, and GT500.

I don't buy things blindly.

I like to know what I am getting. So yes, I looked into a car I thought about getting, and have decided not to get, but that does not mean my brain works like a computer and just dumps everything I learned previous.

As a second plan, if life becomes complicated (as it can in this economy), I considered the Camaro SS, Mustang 5.0, and 370Z. I will probably go with the 370Z.

On the flip side of it all, you are arguing with me about a car you claim I know too much about because I don't own it when you don't, either. What kind of logic is that, or is it just some emotion-fueled thing with no rhyme or reason?

*Not only that, but your profile has a quote referring to another car you don't own, the Z4.

Or we could presume that since you cannot find ONE shred of evidence of Nissan calling it "launch control"...that they never intended it to be.

If they had intended it to be, it would have at least been marketed as such one SOME occasion by Nissan.

HKYStormFront 12-01-2010 03:23 PM

matt, please post a PDF outlining the LC2 (or 3) update where it CLEARLY calls the system "Launch Control" repeatedly for this................. gentleman
